Am I the only one who thinks Christmas came too soon?

When I remember that it was well into December before VMK took the Halloween decorations down last year, and what a let-down it was to see only the Esplanade decorated after much anticipation, no way am I going to complain about holiday decorations being up before Thanksgiving!

All I can say is, way to go VMK! Now this is what I call magic. :thumbsup2

My guess was that the early release of Christmas was to make up for last year's only 10 more trick-or-treating days until Christmas celebration. :rotfl2:

I think the decorations are wonderful however, it would be nice to have a break next year between the holiday layouts. I don't want to have dirty, melting snowbanks replacing last year's rotting pumpkins.

One thing I'd love to see happen is a VMK version of the Osborne light display! Maybe Ranch can pull this off? :cheer2:

I don't know how it is around everybody, but I saw a store or two on October 29 that had Christmas decorations up!

Only by October 29th? Sounds like stores are falling behind this year. ;)

Me, I sort of fall into the same trap every year. I get too excited for Christmas too soon. Start listening to those holiday tunes, creating Christmas crafts, fighting reeeeeeally hard to wait till the day after Thanksgiving to decorate. Then by the time Christmas actually gets here, I'm so sick of holiday cheer I just want it to go away! Then around the month of, like, JULY I start getting Christmas fever and the cycle starts all over again! :rotfl:

LOL, anyway, even though I would have preferred if VMK waited about a week after Halloween before they did anything remotely Christmasy, they did such an excellent and beautiful job that I can't really fault them for it. I think they're really going to try hard this year to make up for last year's "Hallo-mas". :teeth:

I suspect that it's a major project to either add or take down one of these overlays. (That's why I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt last year! ) The reason there's no break between the two decors may be that they don't want to change it any more often than they absolutely have to.

To Yavn and Crew: The VMK Christmas decorations are simply amazing!! The load screen is sweet, the Main Street rooms and music - Wow! And I totally love the Santa Mouse Ears.

But .... (bet you didn't see that coming... )

It does seem a bit early. Halloween was yesterday and =POOF= Christmas. I love Christmas. I really do! It's my favorite time of year! But I don't want that special feeling to be watered down.

I prefer my Christmas from Thanksgiving to New Years.

But I understand. Get in the season early. Yesterday my Girl and I were at DLR. The real park was decorated for Halloween for the first time and it was great! But we found New Orleans Square is decorated for Christmas. This is on Halloween, at the same time as Main Street is filled with Jack-o-Lanterns. It just seemed strange. Then today, after Halloween, and 90% of those decorations are gone and many more of the Christmas ones are up!

It's not that I have a specific problem with forgetting Thanksgiving or conflicting holidays, or what not... It's just I love the magic of Halloween and the magic of Christmas. But they are both different magics, if you will. And I would prefer to clense my pallet before mixing them.

Not to mention, it's difficult for me to get in the mood for Space Month when I'm to be celebrating Christmas and vice-versa.

But that's my two cents. Again, though - I do love the Christmas decorations... but maybe next year I could have a few days to finish eating my Halloween candy before I start on my Christmas sweets!? :goodvibes

We don't get Thanksgiving here so I love that Christmas has come a little early. The decorations are fantastic and make up for the let down last year. Well done VMK

Maybe where they live, they don't see snow so they were really anxious or something.

If that's true, that would be hilarious. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

Although.. it is in California and Florida.. :confused3

I love the decorations :thumbsup2 .. but there's not much to decorate for Thanksgiving.

I've been lead to believe that it's Christmas, all year round.

You can only say that because you live in the *cough* *cough* SUNSHINE STATE *cough* *cough*

Christmas means winter and winter means cold and snow and all those other nasty words that I'd rather not say here.... :teeth:

Yeah! I mean, if you lived someplace cold like me, (Austin Texas,) you would know what cold really is! We got down to 49 last night! I was afraid that I might have to scrape the windows this morning.

:rotfl2:

When I was in the Outer Space Room with Hula last night, I asked her what happened to Thanksgiving. She said since the parks decorate early for the holidays, VMK is reflecting that. She said there will still be Thanksgiving events, but just with a hint of Christmas spirit. So, 2 months of the Christmas theme seems to be permanent.

Yes I agree. I was arguing with a girl in Central Plaza, she said "It's Christmas today in real!!" While I kept on saying "Yes, in VMK it is but not real!!" Yes, Canada already had Thanksgiving and I understand that. But what about everyone else that didn't have Thanksgiving yet? :confused3

I love that Dis'ers can agree to disagree on the subject! Everybody has an opinion and it is fun to read the discussion!
Living in So Calif, if we had to wait for Winter to arrive by snowfall, we'd never leave Fall! Tree's turning colors??? Palm trees don't change colors....hahaha Although I may have to break out the jeans and sweatshirt soon, as we are dipping into the freezing cold 60's lately at night....brrr!!

I'm hoping for snow angel magic, so Fox and I can lay on main street in the falling snow and make snow angels ;) hehehe

Just to add:

As I have said on another thread, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts on November 13th and the decorations go up a little before then.

I think VMK is trying to stay parallel with the real Disney parks...that, in my mind, is great and is what makes VMK better.

Walt Disney World, despite the Christmas decorations being up, still celebrates Thanksgiving so I am sure VMK will also.

At the risk of sounding like a huge jerk, I don't see that as a valid excuse. Really, Disney shouldn't be decorated this early either. Those of you who feel that VMK was decorated too early, do you also feel, like I do, that the parks are being decorated too early as well? Because it doesn't really make sense to be upset about the VMK decorations otherwise.

So many people love to visit the parks during the holidays, so I think it is amazing how quickly the decorations go up at all Disney parks, thus allowing as many to see it as possible during the short 7 or 8 weeks.
If you have never seen people's eyes fill with tears when it begins to snow after the fireworks, to the tune of White Christmas, and see the looks on the kids faces....then you would understand why they try to touch every person who walks thru the gates, with a little bit of Disney Holiday magic and pixie dust.

I love that answer and I wholeheartedly agree with you!

There is a reason why Disney decorates early and I don't think it is to skip Thanksgiving. heh.

I completely agree with Disney's decision to decorate early and I absolutely love that vmk is reflecting the real park. I couldn't be happier!

If Disney didn't decorate early...imagine the crowd level during the week of Christmas! Everyone would be wanting to be there for the festivities. Or...imagine those who would be left out of them. (Such as 4fosterkids leans on)

I am a bit suprised, but i love the hard work vmk has done. I thought it would a fall kind of decoration first.
