Am I the only one who lives for long shows?

I felt like bringing this up now that the new Beyond Aulani show went up. I often hear Pete say that they're running long with shows etc., and I just wanted to say I believe I'm not alone in LOVING the extra long shows. I almost fell over this morning when I saw a show over 2 hours long.

I could listen to the team talk all day long. The response to the Free Form Friday also makes me bet there are more of you out their who also love the very long shows as I do.

So just for future reference Pete, keep making long shows! Rant on for as long as you want, were along for the ride and love every second of the shows you give us each week.

I admit that when long shows happen, I often start to have that little voice inside my head say "You should be cleaning the house, playing with your daughter, practicing your music, etc."

So then I beat the little voice senseless with a turkey leg.

KEEP 'EM COMING!

I enjoy the long shows as well, but I don't think a over two hour show dedicated to the Aulani Resort is necessary. Do you really think a high percentage of Disers really need this information. It was more of a Pete home movie show rather than a true review. I wish the podcast would complete more reviews of restaurants, resorts, and parks. How about some walk throughs or park updates? When was the last time any of the Podcast team even visited a park, resort, or restaurant? If they have, how would we even know?

Kristina: Exactly!! It's always worth it no matter what you put off to listen/watch a long show!

UpstateMick: I have to kindly disagree with you here, I love the Aulani update, I definitely have added it to my places to go to because of the podcast team. Also the cruise information was fantastic, I love cruising and definitely can't afford Disney or a Hawaii cruise on a college students budget but in the future I'd love to do it.

In regards to park updates and resort updates I believe a new 7 in 7 is coming soon, which I'm definitely looking forward too.

I also think a good portion of the team tends to avoid the parks during the summer which leads to a little less park updates. But that's just a theory, it's hot out their!

This seems overly critical.

You are not forced to watch anything that doesn't appeal to you.

Everyone on the Podcast has an actual job that pays the bills and competes for our time.

I apologize that we are not living up to your expectations.

I'm rather speechless about UpstateMick's comments. Dude, really? Pete does a 2 hour test "show" on a Friday evening where all they basically did was drink beer and chat, with one rant at the end, and Pete gets requests for a repeat performance. Perhaps this isn't the podcast for you.

And Kevin, I don't think you have any reason to apologize.

Comments about the length of the show have been being made almost since day one. One of the first comments ever received about the audio podcast was that it was "too long" and that prompted a number of emails in response begging for it to be longer.

Wow, I'm not lovin' the criticisms either! Just a tad harsh. They are in the parks/resorts, etc. all the time - how can you prove it? Ummm.....seen any of the reviews commentaries, up to date info, etc. about stuff that's going on in the parks, Downtown, etc? How about the pics, the "7 in 7 series", or how about the Disney Park Bench videos - duh - think they send ROBOTS in to set up/record that stuff?

I, for one, am VERY appreciative they give up their time week after week to bring a smile to my face in the middle of the work day, when I watch all of them during my lunch hour. And - as I've said here many times - they feel more to me like "hanging out with long time friends, listening to them talk about Disney" than to "just some podcast people". And I am truly looking forward to another "free form Friday" to "just hang out" with them again. Does that mean I have nothing better to do on a Friday night? Ummm - no - it means I am again - looking forward to "hanging out with Disney friends" who are giving up their time to do something they love, but also "for me:.

May I last but not least suggest that if the team is not living up to your expectations - there are many other ways of spending your time. But - seeing what's out there in the way of "Disney content" - and consistently intelligent, friendly, thoughtful, well-produced, unbiased Disney content (not to mention at least WEEKLY - so CONSISTENT, as well!!!!) - good luck finding anything better, or anybody friendlier, more well informed, dedicated, and doing it "for the love of Disney" than this group!!!

And I am truly looking forward to another "free form Friday" to "just hang out" with them again.

I literally put it in my calendar the second Pete announced it. One of my favorite new things they've done. Love getting to spend time with the guys and see what its like when they hangout and chat. Last Free Form was fantastic.

I've just got to say too - having been on "volunteer staff" of another now-defunct Disney web site for many years, I can personally attest to how many thousands upon thousands of hours of "doing it for the love of Disney and the love of helping people and talking about a subject we all love" it takes. And instead of "the gang" or Kevin feeling they have to "apologize" to Mick, I'd like to apologize TO them for any hurt this may have caused them.....I know I'm hurt on their behalf, and I don't even personally know any of them (yet). :) But like I said - "been there, done that", so I know how much it takes!!

I love the long shows too. For those that don't like long shows, that is why it is split it into segments. The basic "News, Housekeeping, Rapidfire" is the basic show. The segments are then put up as separate topics that are clearly marked. If you aren't interested in that topic, you don't need to watch/listen to it. It is very user friendly.
Some of us can't get enough and go back through the archives and look forward to Free Form Friday.
This isn't just a show about Disney to me. This is a show where I hang out with my "friends" and listen to them talk about Disney.
I am unable to watch live but I go out of my way on Tuesday evenings to listen to the first 5 minutes of the show before they go live. This is the part that gets edited out later. They are just talking about fun everyday topics and I feel like I get to know them all a little better.
I hope the team will not take the critiques to heart. Please focus on the majority of us that really love the show and all the time and effort you put in to it.
There is no need to apologize for not living up to expectations. I also hate that Kevin feels the need to apologize to people who don't know he is joking with comments he makes on the show. Kevin is one of the funniest parts of the show and it kills me when people don't get it. I would hate for him to start censoring himself because of these sensitive people. The same way they would pick on Bob during the older shows. How anyone could listen and think they where mean to Bob is ridiculous. Those are some of the funniest moments of the show.
Kevin- please keep being you. A lot of us LOVE YOU!!!!

Honestly this was exactly what I was thinking yesterday! Although I did have to eventually split screen it to watch a soccer match that over-lapped. The nerve... Hahah joking!

Pete, Kevin and the rest of the team, you are wonderfully awesome people! I appreciate all of the long, hard hours you put in to the show and the website after having to put in the long, hard hours for the rest of your life. Your show helped me embrace my Disney fanaticism and brought me to the Boards; I won't speak for everyone but I sure am glad for everything you guys provide: the news, the segments, the opinions, the rants, the off-topic discussions... basically anything you share really :)

While I am sure most of us would love to hear you chat for hours on end (truly we would!), I do know we should be thankful for everything you guys have provided. I have said it before, but I will say it again: Thank you!

For me I think the length of show is about right - but that's mostly because I rarely get the tv to myself for longer than an hour!

I'm looking forward to watching the Aulani show (haven't had a chance to watch it yet), as it's near the top of my bucket list of places to visit but not likely to for many years! So the more video footage of the place the better :thumbsup2

Kevin, I agree with you 100%. When I was looking past old shows on YouTube, I found lots of them that I chose not to watch simply because I didn't think it would be relevant to my experience of Disney. I don't hang at Downtown Disney a lot, nor do I visit the Swan and Dolphin often. So I just didn't watch those segments.

However, I find myself watching the live segments often even if I don't think I'll be interested in the subject matter because this team just brings Disney to life in a way that is very entertaining.

My husband shocked me with suggesting an Aulani trip in 2017 so I definitely enjoyed this past week's segment. And no, I couldn't watch all of it live, but I went back and finished it when I had time.

Thank you to all the folks who volunteer their time and Pete's money to do the shows

It makes a small part of my world a better place and I am grateful. Even for Teresa...

I love the long shows too! I've listened for years and feel like I'm listening to my friends sit around and talk.

Podcast Team - thank you for all your hard work and the many hours spent to provide your listeners with information and entertainment. The podcast is also a wonderful way to escape from stressful situations and I've certainly used it for that in the past and am currently spending every evening listening to the current and past podcasts to destress. THANK YOU.

EXCELLENT points, JStew, and I could NOT agree more!!

I also TOTALLY agree that Kevin is a RIOT, and his dry, deadpan humor CONSTANTLY cracks me up, and I even (numerous times) catch myself "backing up and fast forwarding" to catch his comments. Others crack me up too (especially when John/Pete can't stop laughing - their laughs make ME laugh!!), but I just so "get him", and it's a shame that others that don't can't just either "not watch", or "get a grip". If his type of humor is NOT your cup of tea - good luck, and God speed......don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I got SO excited when I saw the two hour show! I tend to listen rather than watch the show so I can get the housework done. The show got me through a few loads of laundry, a trip to the dentist and making dinner! It was great! I'll have to go back and look at the videos of the Hawaii trip though. I know I missed out just by hearing everyone's reactions to the videos. I may never get to Hawaii myself, but I love to live through you guys!

I was so excited to see the two hour show! Wow, harsh comments - no thank you! I for one love seeing long shows. I live 2 hours away from my family, so I probably drive down once a month to see everyone. I love listening to old and new podcast episodes on my way down and back. Really makes the drive so much easier!

I feel like I'm listening to a bunch of my friends chat about something we all love. Their personalities and opinions are so entertaining, and their passion for travel and Disney is noticeable. I highly enjoy the show, keep doing what you're doing!

Long show or not, I usually just hit "pause" on the Podcasts app on my iPhone, and when I get into the car, it syncs up with my bluetooth and picks up right where it left off!! :)

Here's my biggest complaint: The team is all fired up on a topic, but the show is running long so they rap it up!! I'm with the longer the podcast the better audience. But this is only pertains to the DisUnplugged. There are other podcasts that are so booorrrring, I finally give up and stop listening.
I never plan on going to Aulani, too expensive. But the cruise around the islands sounds perfect. I have requested a quote. Before this podcast, I would've never entertained the idea.
Yes, I listen mainly for WDW information, but I also enjoy other topics. Thanks for everything you do, I really look forward to your weekly shows, and I also listen to your Disneyland show.
