I have never had a bad shopping experience at Walmart. That doesn't mean that I can always find what I am looking for, but everyone I have encountered has always been nice. Last week I was looking for coat hangers. I thought I was looking in the right spot, didn't see them and asked a woman who I thought was a customer, if she had a clue where the coat hangers might be. She responded with a very friendly smile and said, "I know, follow me". She walked to an area that was certainly out of her way, probably 50 ft from where we were, and said, "there they are. Today is my day off, but I know where every thing is by now". Of course I thanked her profusely. The cashiers, the greeters and even the people at the return desk are always polite. I have never had a problem at Walmart.

I like them. I have bad experience with some of them but then again what stores don't have rude employess:confused3:confused3

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call any of the employees at my Wal-Mart "polite". They're usually kinda blah or grumoy. But I like that it is very convienient to my house and that they have good prices. I also like that I can get just about anything I need all in one stop.

I used to go to Target for everything but their prices have gone up. If they were as cheap as Wal-Mart I;d definitely go there instead.

I'll shop at Wal-Mart occassionally for the low prices and because they have a better selection than Target. However, I'd much prefer to shop at Target. It's cleaner, and is more organized.

I hate Walmart. I can't get out of there without standing in line at the checkout for a minimum of 10 minutes. I don't understand why they built all those check out lanes (our Walmart is only about 5 years old) when they never seem to staff more than 3 at a time. And half of the self checkout lanes are broken at any given time.

The people just seem kinda blah. They aren't rude, but I don't find them overly helpful.

That being said, I still shop there. It's close and I have found some things at Walmart that I can't find at Target or Kroger.

I'd give just about anything to have a wal-mart nearby! There's nothing even close to comparable here, and I really, really miss the convenience of it. I could always find the basics there, and the prices were always competitive. My only problem with it was I'd always leave with a lot more than I intended (although it's not as bad as Costco in that respect!).

I'm okay with Walmart. The main problem I also have is having to stand in line so long to check out. The store will be packed but there are only 4 (at the most) registers open. I find this very, very annoying. As far as the employees, I've never had a problem. They aren't the most friendly people but I didn't go in Walmart to make new friends, I went in to shop.

They are building a new one about 2 miles from my which I'm very excited about. I don't normally shop for groceries at Walmart because there are so many things I want they don't have - but love it for beauty products, dog and cat food, that type thing.

It is a love/hate relationship with me.

I love the low prices, however I hate how they create those low prices.

I love that they are able to create jobs in towns with nothing and employ many people. I hate the fact that the money does not stay in your area.

I do hate that they have closed small shops and now they are dominant with no competition so they are able to raise prices. (no love there)

As far as employees and rudeness, waiting, a bad shopping experience, etc...I do not find it exclusive to WalMart and I think it is silly to comment on that really.:confused3

I'm from Arkansas and graduated from a school that had a very very large endowment from the Walton family. I like Walmart;)

For me Arkansas reminds me of home. There used to be nothing but a walmart where I grew up. I'd never seen a Target until my mid20s.

I think the employees are like anywhere else. Some are good and some are bad. The only thing I do not like about the walmart around here is that the parking lot is tiny. I'm okay with parking half a mile away and walking but no such option here.

Same here, except I shop there so much that the occasional not-so-great experience is expected simply by the odds. :thumbsup2

That being said, my heart really belongs to Target.

I don' mind the Super Walmart I go to maybe once every other month to stock up on foods that are cheaper there than at my regular grocery store (not too many by the way). Yesterday I went and had a very friendly cashier. The lines are really never that long and I have only ran into a crabby worker once.

Walmart does not have the monopoly on rude people working for them.

I've had bad experiences at Walmart. And Kmart. And Target. And Disney World. And McDonalds, Best Buy, Nordstrom (!), BP, etc.

In fact, the only place where I have yet to have a bad experience is the Circle K. I always tell people that. It's probably a fluke and will happen one day, but the Circle K tops my list for service, lol. And Dick's sporting goods tops the list for repeatedly rude service.

I do like Walmart and shop there all the time. :)

I think the big reason people don't like Walmart is that their employees don't want to be in a union. Heaven forbid that the folks making $10/hr keep all of what they make when they should pass it on to unions. But I think what drives them nuttiest is that the employees have the CHOICE to NOT do that. If they could, they'd force those folks to turn over part of their salary, but they can't. The $10/hr crowd is keeping all of their $10/hr and it pisses them off.

Nope I like em too. Mine are all clean, the employee's are okay. I had ONE bad experience in the last 15 years they've been around here. Mine are all clean. I wish we had a target near by just for variety but the nearest one is over an hour away. So until Target wants to come around here Walmart gets my money. I wont buy clothes there because they suck and are expensive compared to the outlets. What can I say.. I'm cheap!

I have no preference as far as WalMart Vs. Target- except now dd works at Target so she gets a discount. I have never noticed rude employees at either place... not that I remember anyway.

We have just about every store you can think of within 5-10 minutes of our house including a brand new Super Walmart and a Target. I have always liked Target but lately the shelves have been really bare, and they have been out of quite a few things that I go there for.

Our new Walmart is clean, spacious, and set up more like Target so I like shopping there. The prices are definitely cheaper, and I have not encountered any rude employees, but I'm sure it will happen just like anywhere else. So until they do something to really tick me off, I will continue to shop there.

I much prefer Walmart over Target, etc. However, I avoid it like the plague at Christmas time..it's a mad house in there!

My family does not shop at Walmart by choice.

My DH works in the grocery industry so we have insider knowledge on how Walmart operates. Walmart is a corporate bully. It is such a large company that it can do basically whatever it wants. For example if a grocery chain wants to sell Frito Lay chips they will negociate with Frito Lay and buy the chips for let's say $1.00 a bag. Walmart doesn't negociate - they go to Frito Lay and say we'll pay $.40 a bag - take it or leave it and because Walmart is so huge a lot of vendors take it.

Then Walmart sells their products at a discount but they are still making more of a profit margin than other retailers because of what they got the items for.

Since Super Walmarts have moved into Florida both Winn Dixie and Albertsons have been basically put out of business. It's very sad and I will not support it.

With all the profit Walmart is making they can afford to keep their stores cleaner, better staffed and they can pay their employees better but they don't. :sad2: Where is all that profit going?
