I don't want to sound like an ogre, but in the past week my dd has come home at least three times telling me about how many Dunkin Munchins she had for one birthday or another in school. Now, my pediatrician has told me (on more than one occasion) to watch how much I give her to eat and I try like crazy to pack reasonable lunches and snacks. But I feel like the other parents and the teacher are undermining my efforts. I am trying to give her good examples by what I pack for her, and I'm trying to make sure she is not overeating, which she will do at every opportunity (she doesn't seem to have a "full" switch). Of course it is nice to celebrate birthdays and enjoy snacks together, but shouldn't there be some kind of limit as to how often? I'm really surprised that they do this in her class because of how many kids have food allergies in this class (one being life-threatening). My dd also has food dye intolerances and the teacher has been very helpful with trying to make sure she doesn't get anything that we don't want her to have.
Thanks for letting me vent.
