Am I the only one who brings Disney to a non-Disney situation??

And then there are all of those Hidden Mickey's that my family hollers out when they see...in food, on the ground, just about anywhere...that gets lots of raised eyebrows. My co-workers say its a type of hallucination and I should see a specialist!

My DD6 apparently was including Duffy or WDW in all of her writing at school regardless of the topic. She always manages to get him in! I have had to bribe her £1 every time she does not twist her stories to mention them. Think it was driving her teacher mad!

I do this all the time!!

The most recent I can recall was that I opened up a pack of tissue paper, and for some reason it smelled EXACTLY like the sunset ocean scene on Soarin'!

My family and I do it often. A few months ago, we went to a new restaurant, and as soon as we walked in, I leaned over to my mom and said "It smells like the Swan & Dolphin lobby!" Immediately, my dad turned around and said "I just said that!"
My grandmother was very confused.
Smells are just so evocative.
Also, there are some days I'll go outside and it just feels like Disney. Usually when a little chillier & breezier in the summer in St. Louis. Up here in the frigid tundra of Minnesota, I've never had that happen.:sad2: (On that subject.... we're getting 2-4 inches of snow tonight... :headache:)

Sometimes I'll be sitting at home at night thinking.....it's almost time for the parade. (Fireworks, etc). Lucky people....

Great thread!:)

Not so much with smells (though one perfume I always wear at WDW takes me there) -- but I see hidden Mickeys everywhere - sidewalks, car lights, newscasters necklaces ...

Ok I haven't been on the Universe of energy ride in ages.... However, whenever I open a bag of mulch the smell reminds me of the dinosaur part.....

And hidden mickeys.... Everywhere! Thankfully my daughter points them out and I have someone to enjoy it with :guilty: Like the other day when I had 3 eggs in a bowl and the yolks floated together in the middle.... "MOMMY IT'S A MICKEY!" My thoughts are "I'm not alone!"

No it was NOT a very pleasant smell but it still reminded me if Figment!! Lol!!

Oh I hope you are ok!! And out of curiosity...exactly how did you turn the conversation to Disney??

They told me to think of a happy place and I said ok I will think of Disney world! Lol we chatted about it and I even showed them my Mickey tattoo lol I am fine though thank you for asking! I had a bad anxiety attack. They never manifest like they did that night, literally thought I was about to die!!

One morning when we were walking the dog it was very humid, but not very hot, maybe around 70 degree. The combination of temp and humidity felt just like the Pangani Forest trail when you are looking at the birds and headed for the gorillas.

I mentioned this to DH and he told me "it's getting a little much". :confused3
What is wrong with him? All these magical trips and the brainwashing is still not complete!

All the time! I have officially been banned from talking about Disney by my family and keep it to a minimum with the DF, I can't help bringing up Disney everyday and in so many situations! Music, smells, certain foods, all of it reminds me of something from Disney World. My non-Disney obsessed family members have had enough of me! :)

in summer when I sit in my yard and look out over the fence, there are tons of trees. when lightening bugs are in season, they twinkle in the trees at night, it just looks so Disney! non-Disney people just don't understand it.

and forget it if someone, whether I know them or not, says they are either going down or just got back. I just cant help myself, have to ask where did you stay, what did you do, etc...gets me all excited.

This is so me. It is a rare day that I don't find some way to bring up WDW. The other night was one of the worst. DH and I were commuting home and the Metro, as is often the case, was having issues. The Metro is often my practice ground for dealing with overcrowding and odd tourist behavior so I often think Disney thoughts while commuting.

So anyway, our train got offloaded and they started single tracking. I said to my husband something like "I hear the monorail has been having lots of problems lately and they keep having to resort to single tracking." He just stares at me with that overwhelmed look of my-wife-is-obsessed and keeps making bad Disney jokes despair.

Yup. I was in the hospital for 19 days and by like day 5 we were planning a summer trip to disneyworld and I think at least once a day I would talk Disney with my nurses. I was on the disboards, disneyworld.com and allearsnet at least two or three times a day so they were always asking me what I was doing so we would talk Disney.

It really helped keep me sane during my stay!

We do it quite a bit. In fact, we were at our local shopping outlets just a couple of weeks ago a message came over the loud speaker, first in English, then in Spanish and both me & my oldest DD looked at each other & laughed as the voice sounded just like the one you hear on the monorail as you are boarding and exiting.

I never thought i would have the response I have!! So I have come to the conclusion that we need help...everybody get your favorite treat and let's start a support group. Meet tonight at MK, okay?? :-D

I am just terrible happy to find I am not the only one!! I also ride a bus to work and I find I am much more likely to get up early at Disney then I am to get up to go to work!! Come to think of it I always think the design on the seats reminds me of ME, just a different color!!! If only they dropped me off at Magic Kingdom instead of the office!

I am always finding hidden Mickeys and pointing them out to folks. My friends just laugh but have to agree the 3 circles do look like a Mickey. Hotel bedspreads, pictures in restaurants, pattern in the material of someone's shirt. Our local McAlisters Restaurant has 3 plates on the wall - 1 big & 2 small - just like on the Haunted Mansion ballroom scene. I am obsessed.

Oh yea, here too!!! I actually really LOVE that having the "Disney Mentality" throws a little extra magic on normal kind of days and reminds us of "home!" :goodvibes

My 19 y/o dd texted me from college last week. She said that she was in her boyfriends dorm bldg stairwell and it smelled like something at Disney. I told her to close her eyes, stand still and just smell the smell and let her mind take her wherever. Well, she said it smelled like the bottom level of BWV, where you go by the workout area, before you go outside...just as you are getting off the elevator to go to the pool level. Told her it must be a musty/sweaty smell!!!
Now, that's probably the oddest smell to remember!
