I swear, I'm always thinking of ways to save a buck, who isn't?? But when I squeeze out a way to use ONE propel packet for 4 bottles of water, I think I've gone crazy:lmao:
edit to say, I only have Propel (dry powder mix) because I got it for a sample, no way would I buy it!

what are some "out there" ways that you save;)

I'm so cheap I don't buy bottled water OR "propel." I'm not even sure what "propel" is!

I am sure there are alot, but the one that popped in my head is...

My Kids are not allowed to drink juice boxes at home. They are only for school, and outings. My kids think I am a big meanie. :lmao:

Then I'm a big meanie, too, because mine aren't either. Actually I'm worse because I only buy them for vacations, otherwise I fill refillable bottles with juice or water from home.

Me too! I don't hardly buy them in the summer becuase they would be gone in a minute. I have a big container for Koolaid that I put in the outside fridge.

Shopping for school supplies at WM Friday.

DD10 needed enough notebook paper for the year (Hmm, how much is that?) Best price I could find was 150 sheets for 75 cents. That's 2 for a penny. Wait....I could do better!;)

They are selling 70 sheet spiral notesbooks for 15 cents each. So that's 5 sheets for about a penny. So much better than 2 for a penny.

I bought 5 notebooks which totalled 350 sheets. Paid 75 cents. If I had bought the other package, it would have cost $1.50 for only 300. I saved about $1 on the paper and all I had to do was remove it from the notebooks.:rotfl2: This I did while watching t.v.

Also, and I'm sure many of you do this, had a coupon for Pilot Pens at Walgreens and Bic Pens at Target. Could only use one per transaction so I had DD10 get in line by herself and use her coupons. :yay: Got 2 Pilot G2 pens for 19 cents and 20 Bics for 20 cents. Each of us.

And no, I'm not cheap, just frugal.!:thumbsup2

Oh, and yesterday I searched online for a snowcone syrup recipe and made several different flavors. They taste great and are very cheap to make. Once I mastered the whole concept, I came up with more ideas-i.e. Cinammon

I made, so far,:
Hawaiian Punch Lemon Berry Blast
Raspberry Lemonade
Key Lime (can't wait to try this one out)
Cinnamon-this is really good! Was a little harder to make but so worth it.

Reused Arrowhead water bottles with sports tops-they work great!

Last one-and this isn't cheap, just doing my part to save the planet.
When we get plastic silverware at restaurants I take them home and DD takes them to school with her lunch. She has orders to bring them and any ziplocs home for reuse. Save the planet, save the world!

:rotfl: Same here! Except we ONLY drink water or milk at home, NO JUICE.

Typically, I don't buy clothing unless it is less than $10/piece. Shoes are no more than $20/pair. In general. I just buy during percent-off clearance sales.

I thought I was bad with a $20 limit (most of the time) for a piece of clothing for me. $10 for kids.

My dad used to say, "I won't pay more than $10 for jeans for you." I ended up wearing these butt ugly Toughskins hand-me-down jeans. Now I'm my dad!

I also don't have juice boxes at home. I only get them if we need to throw them in a cooler to go somewhere. The juice that I do buy my kids I water down 50/50. Less sugar for them and makes the bottle go further!

Hahaha i have done the sandwhich bad also!

I dont buy bottled water either but if i lived in Cali, Nevada or other states with terrible water i think i would. Diskat we pretty much have the same water which tastes the same as bottled.

I sometimes remember prices in grocery stores and find the best price!

I live in Canada and hop the border to Washington to buy groceries and fill up on gas at least 2x per month lol.

As for reusing baggies (if you have to use them at all) it takes like 1000 years for them to dissolve in a landfill! When I heard that I really cut down the use, if DD had to carry her lunchbox home why not a tupperware container as well?

I re-use the baggie I pack my lunch sandwich in for a week.

My Mom used to save foil too.

LOL Same here - I have turned into my Mom! :) Sometimes my DD is impressed, but more often she is annoyed. :lmao:

ok thats gross. lol

Not if you wash them out! I used to wash them out, but then got annoyed with all of the baggies drying everywhere. Now we just use tupperware.

LOL Okay extreme I don't know but funny yeah. Those little packets are expensive and not worth it. I do use them in much more than the recommended ounces of water. ;) DD had some of the Koolaid fun fizz and I had her use it in more water than recommended too ONLY because it was free with a purchase I made at grocery store.

I suppose your not alone making it stretch but it wasn't for the money of it but because it can use that much water and taste fine or even better.

Just a forewarning in our school, loose leaf paper meant loose leaf paper. It is different that the paper in a notebook. I would have been in possession of a few years of notebooks if I had done that.

I water down shampoo, hair conditioner, and dish liquid.. They all work just as well..:thumbsup2

I save my stale bread to use for recipes..

If I have some milk that has gone sour, I dig around for a recipe that calls for "sour milk"..

Dryer sheets are used twice - then placed on top of my garbage bag in my garbage can as it discourages raccoons and such from trying to get into the can..

I reuse all plastic bags from the market, drug store, etc..

:goodvibes

I compared the two before I bought them. The paper is exactly the same. It's in a spiral bound notebook that has micro perforations (sp?) on the side. Once I tore them out along the perf, they look exactly the same as the loose paper. Maybe you're thinking of the composition notebooks? Those are definitely different.

I do the same thing.
