ssoooooo

I just started the Meds for my strep on Sat night...
come Sunday DH is sick... same symptoms

I call the DR on call (ends up being OUR Dr's husband ). He calls back says - sorry can't call anything in he has to be tested to make sure it is strep even if you bolt have all the same symptoms ok.

so this am at 8:30 ON THE DOT I call the Dr.'s office to get him in for a sick call so they can TEST him... and the girl who answers the phone says "let me call you back he might not have to come in since it is obvious that it would be strep if you have strep

I call back an hour later (wondering if they lost the # or what) and she says OH YAH... we just got the prescript.. you said CVS right?
umm yah..
ok so DH doesn't have to go in I feeling the better of the two of us can go get it... but I leave him with the two kids and their runny noses to do so...
get there
NO PRESCRIPT "yet" they say. (this is about 10 am)
I call the Dr's... ohh the nurse must just be alittle behind calling them in - It will get called in.
In my mind that means sooner rather than later...
sooooo I get Matt on the bus at 12:15 and run all the way back into town to get the prescipt -
nothing... nada...
I left my cell phone at home
i DRIVE to the Dr's office (much closer than driving all the way home to call)... dang it won't it be quicker to pick up the script drive it to the pharmacy and get it filled myself...

apparantly CAN'T do that cuz its just a NOTE the Dr writes the nurse not an actual script

so I ask if I can just give DH one of my pills til we can get that one filled - (then theres no urgency) Are they the same script?? so she goes and looks and says Nope they gave him something different

I love my DR I have been with her for over 10 years... the entire family has her... and I would hate to change - but her office staff are horrible - they are rude half the time anyways... and obviously incompetant...
I would hate to leave and find another dr

am I overreacting though??:confused3

That stinks, sorry you are having such a long time.

I just called my OB for a Rx because my yearly appointment isn't until March. But I knew better than to run to the pharmacy right away, because it often takes a day or two to get the thing called in. I always call before I make the trip to the store.

I think CVS uses an answering machine to take Rx orders from doctors. COuld it be they haven't retrieved the messages, yet? Also, did they call the right CVS?

Hope you are all feeing better!

I've had it with drs' office staff!!!! Just today my friend drove to her dr's office for her appt. to find out he isn't coming in and no explanation as to why she was NOT CALLED!
It's often faster to have the pharmacy call the dr's office.

You may be overreacting a bit.....I'm sure Dr. have several sick patients over the weekend. Maybe I don't except such timely service from my doc, but I don't think its unreasonable to wait several hours for them to call in a prescriptions on a Monday morning, after all the bad weather everyone is going through.

they do use the answering machine - and they checked it bolth times I was righ tthere.
Only one CVS in the town.
and I went to the Dr's office and the receptionist SAID that the Nurse just hadn't called yet.

Unfortunately this is a nasty strep and tylenol only takes of the edge and never last the full 4 hours...

It's frustrating, have had similar things happen, too. But I think it's pretty much a universal issue, doctor's offices are swarmed and they're trying to do their best to keep up. Hope you all feel better soon. :flower3:

OP, I agree the whole situation is frustrating esp where YOU are not feeling well either and out, do all this driving around.....

But in the long scheme of things, is this the first time there was any miscommunication or is this all the time? I think you need to ponder whether this may have been a one time situation before changing MD's!!

For the most part have you been happy with your physician?? If you are answering YES, then I would chalk it up to this time of year when EVERYONE is sick and offices are busy as are the pharmacys!!!

And I think you, as well, may have learned a little something....in the future always call CVS (or whatever pharmacy) you use and make sure the script is filled before even leaving the house!!

Ohhh, and get better QUICK!!!!
