Am I out of line to ask this of my travel agent?

We booked our US vacation through Dreams Unlimited (we leave in 3 weeks :goodvibes). I haven't been sent a THING with respect to our vacation (other than an e-mail with a link on how to submit payment - LOL).

Can I request he send me maps of the parks and hotel brochure-something (or specifically just Royal Pacific?) I know all of this info is online, but I like having stuff I can hold in my hands - LOL!!!

Do you converse with your travel agent or no?

Your TA should answer any questions you have and provide whatever you need for your trip. That's part of what you're paying for so I would have absolutely no problems asking for information. They can contact the hotels and get information for you. Hotels are all too happy to speak to agents.

Travel Agents have easy access to brochures and maps. They likely already have what you desire - just ask. :)

I completely agree with the answers here. The job of the TA is to act as a liason between the customer the destination (hotel, themepark, transportation information, etc.). They should supply you with your requested information when you ask.

I just noticed that you're from the show-me state! Sweet! Another Missourian on the Disboard! :thumbsup2

Definitely ask!!

I've used Dreams Unlimited a few times in the past, always with the same agent who has been wonderful. Communication is key - don't be afraid to build a rapport with your agent - most of them work at Dreams because of their love for Disney & Universal.

Have fun on your trip!! :goodvibes

Dreams Unlimited is not really a traditional "Travel Agency" ... they are more of a travel service. Normally travel agencies such as AAA have brochures to send out however saying that, if you are expecting something to be snail mailed to you, I doubt that your agent at Dreams Unlimited will be willing/able to do that for you. Most, if not all, of their agents work from home.

Based on my experiences with Dreams I wouldn't expect anything more than the links. They do the job, but you are not going to get much more than that. Lots of links to look at stuff online, and a place like this to ask questions, I don't need any more paper in my house so that makes me happy!

I would call them and ask for some type of confirmation or something. I've never used travel agents, so I'd be going crazy if I didn't have SOMETHING in my hand and/or email.

Definitely make contact with them.

I had a Dreams Unlimited TA twice for my trips to DW in 2009 and 2010. Both times Merrie had me logged into the website to an itinerary she had made up for us based on questions we answered. I printed those and took them with me on our trips. Previous to that she had also done my dining reservations after I had asked a bazillion questions.

DU should be doing something similar for your trip. It is more of an online TA though, so most likely you'd have to print up stuff they would either send you links or such. Despite having a TA, I found I got most of my research and questions answered here on the DIS and cut/pasted then printed them to take with me.

It wouldn't be out of line to ask, you're using them to help you on this trip; so ask away.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I contacted my DU rep and he sent me park brochures and maps, and also noted my requests for our room :goodvibes We'll be checking in on Saturday :cool1:
