Am I nuts for wanting to wear flip flops at DL??

We will be going to DL the first week in August and I know the heat is going to be horrible. When I told my mother in law I was going to wear flip flops she said I was crazy and needed to wear walking shoes. With the heat I can't imagine my feet bundled up in socks and shoes. Do any of you guys wear flip flops to DL?

That's all I wear. I find them more comfortable then walking shoes. I always wear Reefs. They are the most comfortable and I have never had a blister!

It depends on how comfy your flip flops are. I've worn my Crocs flip flops at the DLR in the past and never have a problem. The only time I get concerned is when I ride Soarin' Over California at DCA, but I take them off and enjoy the ride w/o worrying about them falling off and hitting someone on the head, LOL!

Well, if you're nuts, then I am too.
I've worn flip flops before and spent a full day walking all over DL with no breaks back to the hotel, and I did fine. I think the key here is if you have a pair that are truly that comfortable and if you are a flip flop person.
I love mine and I really can wear them all over and have my feet feel good. And I see lots of people in flip flops and sandals at DL when the weather is warm.




Funny side story: One time my in-laws came out to Vegas for a visit and my MIL who had bought these expensive walking shoes to wear all over the Strip, developed painful blisters. She asked if I had any shoes she could borrow until she had a chance to go shopping.

The only thing I had that might fit her was my favorite pair of comfy flip flops. She made a face, mumbled something about how she didn't know how I could wear such shoes, and turned up her nose at them, but didn't really have much choice, so she wore them.

Well, it was basically almost a whole day of walking in them before she was able to find some new shoes for herself, and guess what? Yep, she liked them. Said they were "really comfortable".

Ahhhhh, it's good to be right. But I behaved......didn't even say I told you so.

If they work for you, go for it! I would suggest that you do bring more than just those, just in case they don't end up working for you.

For me, just wearing flip flops around the house for housework gives me blisters and hot spots that cause agony. But then I can wear my not-perfectly-fitting Crocs to the parks and they are often more comfortable than my running shoes (I have to switch off throughout the day), and not everyone is comfy in Crocs!

YES! Flip-Flops are all DH and I wear to the parks, however not cheap ones. We buy good ones with a lot of support since we are both pooh-sized and they are wonderful. A couple trips ago I tied wearing sneakers and was so uncomfortable I switched to flip-flops at the hotel.

I've always worn crocs and/or flipflops... no problemos!
just a couple rude folks stepping on my feet or rolling a stroller on my foot but after that i wouldn't let that happen again, trust me!

Nothing wrong with it at all, I 2nd the Reef brand. They are seriously the most comfortable thing ever and they last forever. I am still wearing the pair I got in the summer of 1999 and they still look good!

I would probably wear fip flops but I have a weird thing about my feet being all black on the bottom and that always happens when you wear flip flops on black top all day long.

Later on when we went back out for dinner/parades whatever, I changed into my crocs, but when we were there it got a little chilly at night.

I LOVE flip flops! I wear them almost all the time - just make sure you don't have brand new ones, never worn if you wear them at Disneyland. I have a really cute pair of Havianas that took a while to get used to and I would have definitely had blisters if I had worn them much at Disneyland.

I think it depends on the flip flops! Cheap old navy ones? no no no. Nice reef's or croc's? yes yes yes!

Ummm, no, not for me. I can't do flips all day. I need comfy tennis shoes. I could do flips for a small period of time but not all day. I've been run over by too many strollers, in fact I was run over by one (I used to wear flip flops to 6 Flags all the time, it's 20 min. from our house) once and it messed up my toe nail so bad that it still falls off once a year. Gross ya? LOL So, once that happened I vowed to never again wear anything less than good shoes to walk around any theme park in. But I do see people wearing them all the time, I think they are crazy but hey, to each his own. Wear what is comfy for you, who cares what others think right?

Wearing flip flops to DL is not crazy. Wearing high heels are!!! I always make fun of those ppl. I like wearing flip flops there, especially during the summer bc it's so hot and no one wants a sock tan. It's expecially handy when I decide to go on a wet ride. The only downfall to wearing sandals is when someone steps on your foot.

I always wear flip flops. If you wear flip flops a lot normally then you should be fine! But don't wear ones with anything fancy like beads on the thong of it as with all the walking it cuts into your feet.

hi there, last year i brought my crocs and flip flops....i started out in my crocs and had so many bandaids on my feet after 2 days, that i then lived in my flip flops for the last 8 days of the trip... ...they were so comfy and my feet were nice and cool...have fun

If they are comfortable for you, then yes! One word of caution though.... I have had the experience in large crowd situations when someone has stepped on my flip flop as I am taking a step, and it yankes on your foot really hard! Ouch! If they are not well made, it might even pull the straps out the of bottom. But otherwise... wear what you want! You're no crazier than the rest of us!!

I always wear flipflops in Disneyland! SO much better than real shoes. The last time I was there I wore Hollister ones all 3 days, and they were rubber soled with cloth strap. They came in all sorts of colors with either polka dots or seaguls on them for only $20, and they have them at abercrombie too, only with stripes and mooses. The most comfortable flipflops ever! If you are interested, go to www.abercrombie.com, womens clearence, then clearence and then accessories. They are the only flipflops on clearance and easy to find, and come in small, medium, and large. I love them!!

That would be murder to my feet, ankles, legs, back but that's just me. If you can walk in any type of shoe without being sore or hurt then you should be fine. I see flip flops and DL and I because I just know if I did that I would be in so much pain that I'd have to rent an ECV.

If you do end up wearing flip flops, don't forget your sunblock!
