I understand people want discounts but is there a reason to spend hours on the phone when you could just wait a few days until the crazy dies down? Are there only a certain number of discounts available? I've never had a discount become available on a previously booked trip, so I have never experienced this.

In a word: yes. There is usually a limited block of rooms (and room types) at each resort (or some subset of the resorts) that qualify for the discount.

The limitation of rooms is why I use Dreams. They do all the work. And can just sit and read the email telling me how much money they saved me.

Limited number of rooms available- if someone wants a particular resort for a specific set of dates, they need to secure that reservation ASAP. There have been many folks reporting they can't get the resort and dates they want because the rooms are all booked.

This is sometimes a good thing. I called to use a pin in March 2010 for a pool room view at the Grand Floridian. The discount didn't have any more of that particular room available, and the CM took pity on me and upgraded us (for free) to the Royal Pacific Club.

Although I am will be spending a lot of time at Disneyland in October I did allow myself a bit of fantasy and tried online to at least price up a trip with no luck at any of the resorts..all were full!

For all the times in the past when I've gone with free dining I've never had any stress because I book with Dreams thankfully ! I can't imagine the stress of calling myself if I were really intent on booking a trip with a discount.
