Just curious - I went to the Disney website and out of curiousity started a ressie at BWV w/Dining Plan Dec 5-11 (the dates we will be there on points). I was able to book a 1 bedroom standard view w/dining and 7 day park ticket/w park hopper for $4111 w/a $200 deposit and if I wanted a standard view studio it was $776 less.

My question is do they hold a certain number of rooms out for cash reservations at a time of year when there a so many DVC members that are waitlisted. My dad is staying at Saratoga and I'd love to move him over to the a standard view studio at BWV to be closer to us.

There is a totally different inventory for DVC and cash reservations as DVC does not control all the units at the different properties.

Not all the rooms are owned by the members and available for points. DVC itself owns some points and rents them through CRO, rooms are moved to CRO when a member trades out of DVC (example - cruise), any points rooms left at 60 days can be sent to CRO with the profit going back to member dues.

CRO classifies all BWV reservations as standard view but the reality is they get whatever is left over, which is usually pool/garden.

There are several ways that Disney can be showing cash nights, while there are no DVC points Rooms available.

Disney/DVC retains about a 4% ownership, and if those rooms are not need for scheduled maintenance, they are made available for cash.

DVC could also have "unsold" points inventory, acquired through ROFR or purchaser defaults. Rooms equivalent to those points would not be available to DVC members.

Members trading out for cruises, concierge or Disney Collection or Adventures by Disney also turn an equivalent point value of rooms over to cash to offset the cost of the venue to which they traded.

So it is quite normal for there to be some Cash rooms available with no point reservation rooms.

One more thing, the standard view at BWV through DRC is not the same as the standard view using points. Standard view through DRC is preferred on points.

Not exactly. The description on the CRO (DRC) site is:

"Standard View Studio Included
All villas have a queen-size bed, a double-size sleeper sofa, a mini-kitchen, table and chairs, a ceiling fan, vanity area with sink, bathroom, and a private balcony or patio. Some rooms include a junior day bed. All rooms are non-smoking. Amenities include makeup mirror, in-room wall safe, voicemail, data port, hairdryer, iron, ironing board, Pack 'n Play® playard, microwave, mini-fridge, toaster, vacuum and coffee maker. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. A crib is available upon request. These villas offer a view of the Resort hotel or the parking lot."

That leaves it open to give you whatever is available. Most of the time it is pool/garden, so it sounds like you got an upgrade. But they could still give you a parking lot view.
