OK Sandi you are going to think I am a hypocrite but I bid on a great contract today and the seller agreed and it is going to ROFR. My thoughts were that it was a damn good price to squeak in under the 3/20 deadline. I am of the opinion that if it passes, great - if not, I truly will not be upset and will buy direct next year. But it was priced at just under HALF of what I would have paid direct and the contract was loaded with points. I do feel a bit guilty after reading what I wrote yesterday, but my DH is getting a nice bonus this year and he is the one bugging me to buy before the deadline. It is not our current home resort but now we (might) have 2 homes with 2 different UYs, so I am still trying to understand the whole transferring thing. I think this means I can only transfer b/w the 2 resorts once per year?

Anyhow, just wanted to share my story for whatever it's worth. It was too good to pass up before 3/20. I had a number in my head and this fit the bill so I did not go "beyond my means" so to speak and we can pay cash for it. OK, do I sound like I am rationalizing this too much?!?!

Yes, and I am of the mind set that rationalizing anything for DVC is a good thing!!!

Good for you!!! Even though I posted already that there is no need for me to rush, I have gotten DH to consider things if I can find a really great deal so it is possible I would be following in your footsteps soon.

I was just looking at a contract, different resort and different UY, but if I could get it for a great price, then DH may be on board with adding on more than we are originally thinking.

Because of the size of the contract (about 40 points more than we thought we would do), I think I would be okay with two different UY's. We like to book split stays so I would be able to get what I wanted at both resorts with what I would own!

Oh, the trouble I am getting myself in to!!! But, I love hearing that someone just went for it--instant support group if I do too!!!!!

But seriously, if you find something great before 3/20, why not? I really don't plan to use my points for anything other than DVC, but you never know down the road our plans may change... keep me posted!

We are currently in ROFR as the seller for 160 points VGC at 95.00 pp since we were only using those points at 7 month mark for wdw and I told DH we would wait until 6 months or so after 3/20 to replace the points at either BLT or SSR (THV). Well..... I found a 130 point SSR contract for 59.00pp with 260 points (2009, 2010) and another 130 coming Oct. Okay I could not help myself! We will have the best of both worlds, BLT for our "planned" family vacations and SSR points for the impromto trips since we want to stay at all properties anyway!

Some are happy with different UYs but I would think long and hard about getting a different one. I once bid on VWL with a different UY, but when my offer was declined, I was actually happy and the broker was surprised that I decided not to counteroffer.

I know since I had it at one point and really didn't like it either. But, if DH is on board with getting more points, then I am SURE I can make it work.

Plus, what I am currently considering that is different, would be used for a specific trip down the road (F & W) or for only 2 nights of our summer trip. Between each contract, I could book whole nights without issue. And this UY, also works for my summer trips so no issues there.

Oh, the decisions, decisions. But, I did tell myself that if the contract is gone if we decide to take the plunge, then it was not meant to be!

Right now, it doesn't seem that there are any small number of points contracts to be had! I look, even though I am not buying.

Uh oh! That is me! If my contract goes through my 2 UY will be 8 months apart.

Although to be honest, I am like Sandi in that I would alternate resorts via banking and borrowing (for 2 different times of the year) so hopefully it does not become an issue. Hopefully.

It has taken a big U-Turn, hasn't it? Yes, I wanted to get reassurance that may plan of not having to add on right now was a sound one for the short term and all I have done is convinced my DH that a small add on should be the way to go.

I TOLD y'all that addonitis was hitting me hard! As Bobbi mentioned, though, small contracts are few and far between and we are going to be particular about the resort so who knows how long it will take to find one.

At least I know that I have an option if the right contract doesn't show up.

Thanks, I will. DH also decided tonight that he IS coming with us in August (said last summer there was no way--knew that he would change his mind as we got closer!!) and I was able to get a BW view 2 bedroom at the 7 month mark so I am hoping that maybe, if we haven't found a small contract by then, that the view from that room will convince him that we could use even more!
