Am I in Trouble Checking in at 8:00 PM for PO?

There are 6 of us so we have two rooms on hold at Port Orleans. We will not be arriving at the resort until 8:00 PM.

We have requested adjoining rooms or at least next to each other. Because this resort is so huge, I am worried about what rooms will be left by 8:00 PM in terms of being way far away from bus stops and main lobby. We will have my 75 year old mother with us, and while she gets along well, less walking will make for a more pleasurable stay.

A few years ago we stayed at one of the larger resorts and they totally screwed up our reservation.

Am I being overly concerned?

If you requested adjoining rooms those are not the same as connecting rooms you know. unless you have more small children than adults your chances of connecting rooms are slim. even adjoining at that time of night might be a stretch. but good luck with it.

We had three rooms reserved this past March break and we were all together (two connecting with one adjoining). Our flight landed at 9 pm so we didn't check in until 10 pm. As long as you had the requested noted (and why), you should be ok.

We were told that our rooms are assigned to us the morning of the day we were to check in. Meaning, if I checked in a 8:00 a.m. or 8:00 p.m., I would still have the same room(s). I've been told that by a CM on at least three occasions.

SOunds good, thanks for the replies so far...

Not 100% true...

While is does seem they "assign" rooms ahead of time, that assignment is not set in stone. When we checked into POFQ they had us assigned to a specific room, but it did not meet our requests. However, the person at the desk along with the help of a manager was able to get us a room that met all of our requests. This also means that someone was just bumped from the room we ended up getting.

Also, someone may check in early, get to the room they were assigned, and decide it doesn't meet their needs and request to be moved... or someone checks in early and says "Our son broke his leg a week before the trip, do you have any rooms closer to the main building/bus stop/ect?" and may get switched as well.

Thus, if you check in at 8pm you may not get the room you were originally assigned.
