Am I going to regret not reserving any FP+?

lol

Maybe because people would be up in arms if they set the attendance limit so low or hiked up the prices so high to the point where there would be little to no lines at each attraction.

Until Disney calls it something like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, then many guests are happy to pay for them.

slightly :offtopic: - but in response to OP's follow up question:

OP, Disney DOES offer an "easy" way for guests to have a relaxing time at WDW. They just charge a nice chunk of change for it.

It is called the personal "VIP" tour guide service. They give you a personal shuttle to the parks, VIP seating, and "The ability to experience some of your favorite attractions efficiently, even repeatedly." It costs an extra $315-$500 per hour (per WDW's website), with I think a min six hours per day, for a group up to 10 people.

I don't think many folks are buying it, but folks aren't up in arms about it either. This is in addition to the premium/platinum package options, club level rooms and deluxe suites. Each of those services also offer some element of what you are asking. Club level rooms, for example, offer additional staff. Club level guests don't wait in the front desk lines. They also don't (have to)make their own ADR's.

I'm not in any way commenting on your plans, just pointing out that premium service options do exist. The patricians don't have to bother with plebian inconveniences. :tiptoe:

In all seriousness, imagine what would happen if someone like Oprah tried to wait in a standby queue - instant chaos.

I'm with you, 1025. This is my first time going to WDW since the launch of fastpass plus, and I'm nervous to see what the wait times are going to be like. I'm not a plan ahead 60 days kind of gal, and hope it won't bite me in the butt.

I just hate having to plan my vacation down to the minute. I don't know what time I'll be waking up, how long it will take to get breakfast, and head to a park that we need to decide on.

Its just two of us. We don't do any of the thrill rides (which are mostly the big ticket items).

Why can't Disney make this easy for those of us that just want to have a nice relaxing time?

This is my DH's thoughts exactly.

Our general touring fits scheduling 3 FP, at least for the first 4 days we're there, when it's generally 1 park a day. After that, from what I'm reading from people's experiences at the park, we should be able to schedule FP for our pick up days when we know what we'll be doing.

I would make FP for those attractions that are absolute musts: just to make sure that there are not unhappy endings, so to speak.

As for the lines: we were there in September last year (before the major roll out) and I just re-read some of my trip notes. Aside from the habitual long lines (Peter Pan, I'm looking at you 90+ minutes) I think the longest we actually waited was about 30 minutes. And even though people have gone during "slow times" this will be the first September that the FP+ is fully functional. I'm betting that not even the 'forecasters' will really know how the lines will be.

This is what people who do not like to plan their total vacation say is the down side to fastpass plus. I personally liked to better when I could arrive in the morning and just get what I needed depending on how I felt.

I hate it because if I book a dinner for 6:00 at Via Napoli for instance, I don't know months in advance if we will be hungry at that time
Here's what I do: I eat lunch no later than 1. Then I can be assured of being hungry at 6.
Well, I think I got most of my ADRs (at least to use all of my credits) done. Might need to make a couple more to fit in some other stuff. I did make some FP reservations. Had no issue getting what I wanted. While SDMT looks nice, I'm not a coaster fan and from what I saw on YouTube, my back would probably not forgive me, so it being filled wasn't an issue. I think we'll be OK.
You might be surprised about 7DMT.., it is very smooth. Not rough or jerky at all. Again, a back issue is nothing to mess with, but depending on the severity, you might want to reconsider :-)

Well, I'm not much of a coaster person anyways....

The back thing is annoying me. Its at the point where I'm seriously considering renting an ECV to survive the week without wishing I was on heavy pain killers.

Things have changed a lot in five years. I still don't agree when I see there is a slow time at WDW . If I were you, I would grab some FP+ and if you don't use them then you don't use them. I think it would be better to have them rather than have nothing when you get here and maybe find that the SB lines are ridiculously long.

This is exactly the advice I was going to recommend. If it's been five years since you went in October, you'll probably find it to be quite bit busier than it used to be. And the most popular rides (TSM, Soarin', 7DMT, etc.) will almost always have substantial lines no matter what time of year you go, unless you ride them first thing in the morning, right at park opening. There are very few slow times of year anymore, and because of the popularity of things like the F&W Festival, October is much more crowded than it used to be.

Also, I think of the new FP+ system the way I think about ADRs. It's better to make some ahead of time and not need them (knowing you can cancel if you want) than not making any and wishing you had! And at least with FP+, there's no penalty if you don't use them!

This is my experience. I did make Fp+ last time I went and actually hated it. I would like to do 7DMT but it's not a high priority. I don't want to make FP+ rides in fact I dread it. But it sounds like I have no choice.
