Hi all!
We bought BLT in April. We had already had a trip planned for POP for this summer because I had gotten a pin code for the $500 gift card.
Originally we were going to cancel this trip and just go on our first
DVC trip in November. But then I did the numbers...
Trip in June for 5 nights with 5 day MYW base ticket.
Cost $1562.00
Breakout: the Room (649.00) Tickets (913.00)
Plus Disney will give me a $500 gift card at checkin
NOW Since we are DVC members we thought we could take the ticket credit from the package and buy AP's since we are going again in November with family. We also plan to go in March for a quick sping trip just DH and me and then again in June 2010 with my nephews. We figure we can plan to make that trip as soon as the kids get out of school and be before the cut off of the AP. So at minimum two trips on the AP, but most likely four trips.
So I will want four adult AP's since my kids will be adults (DD just turning 10)
If I understand correctly with DVC discount the AP will cost 400.00 per adult.
So :
1600.00 DVC AP
(913.00) Ticket Credit from POP package
687.00 amount due to Add AP's
(500.00) Less Gift card from Disney (can I use this for this?)
187.00 Additional due at Disney
OK So Now I have paid out of pocket 1562.00 plus 187.00 = 1749.00
Now in November when we go we will have no room cost, and no ticket cost plus our family insists on "renting" the points at 750.00 for their room. So if I deduct that I will be paying 999.00 before food for these two trips. Then again in March and June we will be using points and have the tickets already paid.
We would be crazy not to do this right? I mean four trips with tickets and rooms for 1000.00 outlay for a family of four with kids in the "adult" range. (Ok I realize I already laid out a lot of cash for the DVC, but you know what I mean
)
Can someone tell me if I did my calculating wrong... please??
Just some notes... Our kids always wanted to stay at POP and now that we have bought DVC we probably won't stay there again. On the package in June it also states an "arcade card and Sea Racer voucher". I will have to find out more about that, but the arcade is a big plus at POP. We should do this right??? Oh and the funny thing is that I had to cancel the June trip due to camps for the kids conflicting. When I went to cancel the CM was like, well how can we save this great trip for you. So I said, well I don't think it is possible to change the dates and keep the $500 gift card. HE said "lets just try" and wa-la! he was able to move the dates to the days I wanted and keep the gift card and the room is availble still for the same price. I was stunned. First off to think I could get the same resort and price just 50 days out surprised me and that they didn't have to adjust the price at all and they still let me keep the code that I booked in November 08?? I felt like it was karma (or Disney is desperate to keep people coming!)
