We really want to take a trip to DL. The only time we are able to go is the week after Easter 2009. We would stay five nights at the GC for easy access, checking in the Monday after Easter. Am I crazy for going this time of year due to all the reported crowds??

Last year, we had a very late spring break, starting about the 16th. My friends spent the week at DL and Knotts. I asked her about crowds and she said the Sunday was kinda bad but that week wasnt' bad at all. Knotts was dead dead dead. So much so, that this spring break I think I am going to take the family to DL and Knotts.

hope that helps

Guess it depends on how well you handle crowds and how much you are willing to strategize and plan. And going to DLR can never be a bad thing can it? ;)

With planning and good strategy you can have a great trip in April - or any time of year, IMO. Plus, with five days on weekdays and staying at the GCH you will have the deck stacked in your favor.

Some people hate crowds period. Others do not mind crowds as long as they can avoid long lines. I fall in the latter category. As long as you can handle the crowds, then the following strategies will work to avoid lines(assuming your April dates are during high season/max park hours - later in April park hours shorten as do crowds):

1. Get an early start each morning or most mornings
2. Collect FPs
3. Take an afternoon break
4. Park hop

I am a WDW vet and was wondering how you "collect fasspass' " ?

I have actually been to DL the week after Easter and the week before Easter. It seemed to be more crowded the week before Easter. Just make sure to get to the parks early and utilize Fast Pass. If you want to see the Parades or Fantasmic if it is showing when you are there get your spot early and then once you have seen the parade use that time the next day to ride the rides. Most of the crowds will be watching the parade and that is the the perfect time to hit the rides.

Even with the crowds DL can be fun just don't let the crowd get to you. Take the time standing in line to look for Hidden Mickeys or bring a Disney trivia book and learn some trivia. Quiz the people in line.

If that is the only time you can go then you should go. Even a crowded day at DL is still a day at DL :)

As for collecting fast passes, take a look at Hydroguys tips it is a sticky on this board.
