My DH (being sarcastic) has now decided that the money for our trip will be best used for us to take out a new ins policy. The ins policy os fine but he wants to use the money for our trip to pay for at least a year's premium (we can afford to pay it monthley) I don't see his point maybe I am being selfish but now I have 2 VERY upset children because we're not going now. Any opinions?:(

Pack him up! Put him out on the stoop.:p

18 days before your trip and now he wants to take out a new insurance policy?

LOL I'd tell him to make sure it's enough to carry me for the rest of my life, because if I wasn't going on vacation, he'd be dead.

bwahahahahahaha

I personally would be very bummed out and irate if my DH did this to me, especially if you have children who have been counting down the days to the trip.

Yep new husband in order! I don't think thats fair to you or the children. My DH would be dead!

What kind of insurance? Is he planning some sort of accident? Something weird is going on - there has to be more to it - the timing is very suspicious IMO.

It's a new health insurance plan right now we don't have any but it's not the insurance i'm against it's taking the trip money to pay for it.

Tell him he can use the $$ for his part of the trip to put towards the insurance and you and the kids will send him a postcard from WDW!

Mermaid02 took my answer :p

Honestly...that's just wrong, especially 18 days away with children involved :(

I'm glad to hear it was just health insurance, not life. I agree with him that health insurance is more important than WDW, but can't imagine breaking my kids hearts (since the trip is already planned) if there is another way. Paying health insurance monthly is pretty standard. We are very anti-debt and that is the way we do it.

If he truly is worried about finances and feels like WDW is not possible right now, I hope he finds a way to help the kids understand!

i am glad to here it is health and not life too. but that is just mean to do to the kids. i wanted to postpone my trip until DS is a little taller. my boyfriend said no! i have to go when we told DS we would go.

Health insurance is more important than a WDW trip, but to be honest I know of no one who pays a year's worth of health insurance premiums up front.

Frankly, I'd tell my husband to kiss my butt and that we would pay our insurance monthly. Then the kids and I would head to WDW. But that's just me. :)

Well, if he ever wants to think about having another child with you (*wink*), then he will need to pay monthly for the insurance and not break the hearts of the children. That is just ridiculous.

Do the health insurance monthly, the most normal method of payment, but make sure you get it, do not be without. And enjoy your trip to WDW, all of you, you guys deserve it.

If you have to choose between the two financially, then you should definately choose the health insurance. But if it won't strap you to make the monthly payments then by all means, go to WDW. If that's what you've been saving up the money for and the kids know it, then it's just cruel and abusive to say "no" at the last minute and for no reason. I grew up with a step-father like that. Promises like "if you get straight A's all through grade school then you can have a horse after you finish the 6th grade" well, guess what? No horse. Every year we were told we were going to Disneyland. Never went, always had something more important for himself that he had to buy with the money, or him and my mom would go to Reno instead. And for the record, any woman who stays with a man that treats her children like that is just as guilty. If it's a money issue, I understand his view. If it's a power issue, or if he's just being mean, he's an @#$.
