Am I actually changing my opinion of FP+????

Our last trip to WDW the FP system was in test mode and our resort was not in one of the test groups. Last year, we went to DLR, so did not use it there, of course. And in between I had read many, MANY negative reports of the system and I was actually dreading trying to use it.

Well, last night we booked a quick trip for March, used the FP+ selection process and guess what. It was not nearly the pain I was expecting, and we got every attraction we wanted. I will admit, making the selections and using them in person may result in disappointment, especially if longer lines will be found at the other attractions, but I have been pleasantly surprised.

One mistake I made in my haste was just to accept the first option that I was shown. On subsequent days, I made a few changes. And even though most of the FP's are within a few hours, the attractions are close together so I do not anticipate that to be a problem.

So maybe it might work for us as well. As always, I go to Disney with an open mind. Crowd levels are in the 5-7 range but nothing can top the one Christmas week trip we had. If we don't get to do everything, then there will be another time to visit.

Anyway, so far so good, so I'll see soon!

I was expecting a nightmare last year when we used them for the first time. We had the run n' gun strategy down to a science, and I wasn't looking forward to this untried technology.

All in all, though, I think I liked everything about the new system (other than the greedy screwjob we faced when we had to buy magic bands OOP because they were shipping our AP passes back to our house) ... we actually got to relax at the parks a bit, resting assured that we were sure to see at least 3 of our favorites in any given day.

The technology needs to be worked on (especially for large groups - we had 22 in our group and making FP times near the same window was TOUGH), but all in all I liked what it brought to the table.

I had been on the DLR boards and all I heard was all the bad reviews and wishes that DLR wouldn't get FP+. After reading here for the past month and checking things out. I actually think FP+ will work really well for my group.
We are all excited to see how it works for our dream (dec 2015) trip.

I like it! I used it once in 2013 during testing and then twice last year. I always stay at a WDW resort so I get to select at 60 days. I love having 3 FP's ready to go before I get there. I also like that I choose the times. You aren't stuck with the time the fastpass machine is giving when you get there.

I wish they would change the 4th pass and after to online instead of the kiosk. I don't know if that is planned or not. We typically park hop so it would be nice to get one ready for the next park. One day in May I had 5 at MK and then 3 at AK. I will admit it was a slow day.

I think that person probably wasn't aware that your AP MBs aren't given to you at Disney. Rather, you have to order them once your APs are activated (for most people, this will be the first day they go to the parks) and then they're shipped to your house. There is no possibility to ship them to a resort or elsewhere that I'm aware of.

But MBs also aren't necessary for AP holders, because we get our RFID enabled physical APs (the cards) that we can use for park admission and FP+ redemption, so I'm not sure why this poster felt forced to buy MBs.

Yes. I have an AP and use the magic band from my resort stay. If you live in the US, you can customize them and have them mailed in advance to your home. If not, you pick them up at check-in.

Just one tiny clarification. An AP or a MYW ticket isn't "on" your Magic Band. Your Magic Band simply links to your MDE account, which houses all your ticket/resort/FP+ information. So there's no "transferring" to be done when you upgrade a ticket.

We've got so many magic bands they could host their own magic show; we upgraded to AP's last month and they show to be linked to the same MDE account that has all the bands.
