Hi all,

I've just received the below email from Alton Towers... note the part about the length of the day... is this the tour of all tours or what?!?!? :goodvibes

Dear guest

Thank you for expressing interest in the new Alton Towers Behind the Scenes Tours package. This is your opportunity to gain a unique and exciting insight into the inner workings of your favourite theme park. Your day will begin with exclusive access to the park before the gates open to the general public, spending time with our technical teams on some of our most popular rides such as Rita - Queen Of Speed. You will witness some of the daily procedures that take place before the first guest is even out of bed! The tour continues with a look behind Hex- The Legend of The Towers, where you will discover the hidden secrets and magic that combine to make your body and mind turn inside out. Next up, we venture to the ancient Flag Tower, a famous monument in the history of Alton Towers, where we will climb over 200 steps high into the sky and see miles of Staffordshire countryside and parkland below. Once your feet are safely back on the ground it is your chance to go off and enjoy a day on the theme park, with priority access on some of our most popular attractions.

As the park closes, your are invited for a buffet meal in the board room where you can browse over some of historic archive material such as old maps, art work and photographs. While you are dining, the general public will head off home, the Monorails will be put to bed and the night-time shift will begin, we will then get the chance to stay behind in the empty park and see what happens after hours. Again our expert team will be on hand to guide you around a handful of our attractions into the night, finally ending at around 8pm on Towers Street.

Can't wait to get onto the tour? You can book your place for £60, which includes park entry, free car-parking, time with our technical teams behind the scenes and buffet lunch. We have three dates in place, but be aware that paces are limited so ring 0870 458 5140 to book your place now.

The three dates are:

Saturday July 15th

Saturday July 22nd

Saturday August 26th

Please note that every effort will be taken to ensure that all areas of the tour are covered; however due to operational or technical reasons we may have to change the tour programme. Due to the nature of this event you are required to be 16 years old or over and be physically fit. The day begins at 8am and continues right through until 8PM! What's more - annual pass holders will get a 10% discount for quoting their annual pass number.

Yours faithfully

The Alton Towers "Behind the Scenes Tour" team

WOW! Are you tempted?

Fairly tempted...... my only gripe is that they're only on saturdays... if they offered them midweek when the park is generally quieter then i would definitely go for it.

My husband and I are booked on the 26th August tour and I'm really excited about it. We decided to treat ourselves to a night in the Alton Towers hotel the night before to save us setting off at 6am to get there in time!! We only get to go to the park on weekends or school holidays as we are both teachers so the fact that it is a Saturday doesn't bother us. Plus we get priority passes from the tour so we won't have to que much either! I think we will probably go for a relax in the waterpark in the afternoon as well to relax a bit as it will be a long day!
