Alternatives to VEA

Tried to pay the VEA driver with plastic on our Halloween trip the other week. Both outbound and return, the machine had no paper so couldnt use the card. When he DID get some paper, the machine wouldnt GSM connect.

Scratching around your pockets (and the families pockets) for euros can get embarrassing. Next time we pay cash and take the extra euros.

Used Paris Shuttle last year from CDG. Cost about 120e for 6 adults & 2 children. The driver arrived 45 minutes late, couldnt speak a word of English even though their site assures that all drivers are English speaking, (good job my French aint too bad!) Then even using Satnav he got lost? Took him around 1hr 15 mins for what is normally a 35min or so journey even tho at times he was doing over 140kph, then got mightily upset when we didnt give him a tip.

Since that time we got the Hotels to arrange taxis for us, this year we got the Santa Fe to book for both arrival and departure. Cost 90e for 7 people each way, the driver was extremely helpful and waiting for us both times. If I can find his card I will post details.

To be honest i'd always do it by taxi as you have no trailing about, especially with hyper excited kids (and adults!!). No trolling about on the airport tour and Disneyland suburbs for Hotel drop offs! And no dicing with death for hire car drivers competing with the French drivers who WILL insist on driving on the wrong side of the road :rotfl:
