DDs best friend was diagnosised about 6 months ago with Molluscum Contagiosum (MCV). She has been going to the dermatologist regularly, and it is clearing, just very slowly. I think that they are using Cantharone.

DD just got diagnosed with it on her stomach and a little on her face.
I am calling my dermatologist on Monday to make an appt even though DDs pediatrician said Friday AM to just wait it out.

Discussing with folks and reading up it is actually common and I had just never heard of it. Out of 8 kids in the neighborhood, 5 have had it.

I was just wondering if anyone out there knew first hand of any alternatives or natural remedies for Molluscum Contagiosum (MCV). Or anyone with firsthand experience, please share any thoughts, information, etc. Thank you very much.

For anyone not familar with this you can google or go to the link below if you are interested in reading more.

I'm still unpacking after a move, so my homeopathy books are MIA still. But I'd definitely look into homeopathy for the symptoms. There's a school of thought with skin issues that if you just go willy nilly treating the symptoms, you're just pushing the problem deeper, and bigger problems might show up later on. So you want to get to The problem to start with, rather than just chase the symptoms. I'd look into homeopathy if I were in your shoes! Good luck!

My dd had them--yes, from what I understand, they're very common and easily passed from one to another (wet beach towels were the transmitter for us). We were told by our pediatrician that the treatments take a long time and require vigilance; she recommended just waiting them out, which is what we did. They're gone now, thank goodness, but it took over a year (more like two) for them to disappear. Actually, disappear is the wrong word; for my dd, each one became quite red, inflamed, and painful (looked infected) just before it went away, and it was alarming at first, I have to say. My dd was lucky, as hers were only behind her knees, in the crooks of her elbows, and on her tush! If they had been on her face, I think I would have looked into treatment.

Good luck to you! I wish you a speedy "recovery.":flower3:

DIT-TO (Not to mention I think Bumbershoot is really cool)

Yep. Homeopathy is so complex and interesting. And when it works, it's absolutely amazing. The right remedy and potency is so important, but goodness gracious, I love it. Even our family doc has been impressed with how it worked on something with DD. She had a pilar cyst on her forehead. Our doc wasn't concerned, unless DD turned into a unicorn. :rotfl: Even if it was considered harmless, DD really didn't like the bump. So I treated it with homeopathics and the cyst was gone in less than 2 weeks.

Thank you very much for the replies! We really appreciate it.

I dont have any experience with the issue you are talking about, however when my son was two years old he suddenly developed a nasy fungus underneath his fingernail, it was gross, throughout the day it would turn different colors, green, brown, black. My pediatrician said that the medicines he could prescribe on a child his age could cause liver damage and that the medicine did not have a high success rate either. So, since I am a believer in alternative med., I looked up nail fungues on the internet and I found a site recommending a method of soaking it in Tea Tree Oil, cider vinegar, peroxide and then bleach. He would fall asleep in his crib at night, then I would put his finger in these solutions each for about 20 minutes, then I would put his fingernail in petroleum jelly and put a bandaid around it. Well, in about two weeks it worked, and believe me, this was his entire nail. I am convinced this cured the problem, however you must be persistant with your treatment. I contiuned to go thru the process for a few days after it was completely gone. Good luck.
