Alternate to renting car seat with car rental

When renting a car, the thought of the additional fee per day for booster seats makes me cringe. I have discovered these car seats and wanted to pass the info along. They would pay for themselves after a few days vs paying for a rental. And they fold flat in suitcases!

I have 3 in boosters, so these seats also come in handy when we travel in our car because they are so narrow and we can fit 3 in the back seat.

And you shouldn't rent from car rental places at all - the seats could be expired/dirty/mishandled that could compromise their safety in a crash.

I bought a very large duffel bag and packed my car seats in it. When I checked in at the airport, that bag was always no charge, even if I had to pay for other luggage pieces. Of course, it's been a few years since I've flown any airline other than Southwest due to those charges, but I think most airlines follow that. You can also call to verify.

Yep, if the kids are old, big, and mature enough for a backless booster, the bubblebum is fabulous! Weighs about a pound, so when DS was still in a booster he got to carry it in its little carry sack.

I've been considering the bubble bum too but I ended up getting a really lightweight and small backless booster at Walmart for about $13

We have never rented a car seat. Before they could use a booster we always traveled with a car seat and they were sitting in it on the plane.

Once they were in a booster we always travel with the booster. I use the graco turbo booster (backless for the traveling). We put it in a reuseable grocery shopping bag and its a free carryon (at least on Delta and Southwest). It fits perfectly in the over head bin. Works great. (and its our regular seat so no extra cost)
