dh and I are dropping the kids off at their grandmother's house in southern nh tomorrow, and we have the WHOLE DAY and the WHOLE NIGHT to ourselves.

what to do, what to do?????

any ideas?

can be in nh, southern maine, boston....we have a dozen ideas, but nothing is jumping out. any thoughts? we live in metrowest and will not be getting a hotel room so don't want to go crazy, but are willing to drive an hour or so.

:)

something happened.......just posted and it is no where to be found......so as i was saying.....come on Maine .......OOBeach is a beautiful area and I love the ocean ....the smells and the noises of the surf......my kind of day.....plus come and get some fresh seafood at the CLAMBAKE and later on at the pier.....Pier Fries are high on our list of do's.....
Hope you have a good relaxing time

I spent a day in Newport RI when I was on vacation last week. I hadn't been in years and it is just as beautiful / quaint as ever. I don't know if that is too far out of the way though. You don't have to tour the mansions, but the walk along the Cliffwalk is beautiful, a drive along Ocean Drive, a picnic in the park off of Ocean Drive.... there is just so much to do there for a day trip.

I'd go to Boston. See whatever interests you, maybe take in a show, have a nice dinner, etc.;)

Run around the house in your underwear.

It's fair season in NH. Hopkinton fair is going right now.

Another vote for Newport, Rhode Island. Hilltop Inn....very romantic bed and breakfast.

You could go to Portsmouth, eat a nice seafood dinner, then yea go home and run around in your underwear. LOL:lmao:

Run around the house in your underwear.

These are my two faves.
Economical too! :thumbsup2

Nah! Those are the NIGHT-TIME activities. She needs something to do to get in the romantic mood first! You know the Date!

Head to Boston and wander around, holding hands and see the sights. Maybe shop at Quincy Market and then go out to dinner at a nice restaurant nearby. hmmm maybe a fancy lunch instead so then you can get to those night time activities sooner :thumbsup2.

I would grab some snacks and your favorite CDs...its going to be a LONG RIDE to SNH tomorrow. 128/495 on a holiday weekend?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl:

this is true, my in laws went up to the seacoast for the day today, and on the way home they said the traffic headed into the nh coast area was bumper to bumper backed up for miles with no end in sight

thanks all!!! we have been weighing things back and forth and back and forth and have some ideas finally that will take advantage of both time together OUT and time together IN. ;)

hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! its gorgeous out there!!

Ogunquit or York ME???

I was going to say Wolfeboro NH, but that would be more of an overnight I think. I just love that little town!!!!

thanks again everyone for the ideas!

we went back and forth a dozen times. when it was all said and done yesterday we ended up heading into cambridge to the Happy Toast for a late breakfast (yum!), then tried to go to peacefield in quincy. I've always wanted to go. unfortunately there was too long a wait for the tour so we revamped once again and headed back to boston. got the perfect parking spot on boylston street right next to the new apple store, drooled over the iphones for a bit, had a cocktail at the new mandarin oriental, window shopped up and down boylston/newbury streets, gazed around the public garden, ate an early (and yummy) dinner al fresco at abe & louis (there went the budget!), went bowling at Kings, walked and walked and walked again just enjoying being out and about on our own till we finally ended up at finale for dessert.

a GREAT day. and the parking could not be beat. we were in town all day and it cost us hardly anything...well, in parking, that is.

today picked up the kids and canoed the concord river, then ice cream and kimballs. perfect, just perfect.

hope everyone is having a great weekend!
