Hi all! I am considering putting together a quick trip for my and my 14month old son the weekend after the 4th. Has anyone ever done this, one adult with a baby? LOL The confident part of me says go, have fun, people watch, catch some rides, eat at Caseys LOL Enjoy some time with him (my older 3 are away for the summer)
The other part of me says, UGH July weekend HOT HOT HOT , alone with the baby, what in the world am I thinking......so any ideas, advice, warnings... LOL Oh yeah, I took him along with the whole family in Feb but it was soooooooo cold and windy that he did not enjoy himself, so he did not get the full Disney experience (that is code for *I* didnt get the full baby's 1st time at WDW experience)

Last year my DS was 2 and I took him for a day alone to MK. Now mind you this wasn't for a whole weekend but just a day. I loved it! We had a great time, just relaxing, seeing characters, riding a few rides and catching hugs from Mickey. To him, these were the high points. It was nice to just have some Mama and DS time for a change.

My DH also got sick during our trip so I had both kids (2 DSs -- one 7 and one 2) for an entire day at MK. To be honest, this was my favorite day of the trip. The boys and I just wandered wherever we want, tried rides we had never ridden, and sat on Main Street and had ice cream. I don't know what the big difference was since my DH is very accomodating but it was just such a relaxed day. My older DS loved it since he was my helper with the younger one.

The only drawback to your going would be the heat. I am not a big fan of summers in FL but if you think you can stand the temps, I think you would have a wonderful time!

I usually avoid being the only "big" person for logistical reasons. You've got to do something with the child while you bath, use the restroom, etc. I feel more comfortable having at least an older child along to watch the younger for a moment as necessary.

Do you have a girlfriend, mother, sister, who might enjoy spending time with you and the babe? Grandmothers are usually into this sort of thing.

On the other hand, single parents do this all the time. If you can take the pressure, the child will no doubt love it. And Disney is one of the safer places in the World, I think. Lots of parents to watch your back.

Enjoy,

Sheila

I say to go for it! Yes, July is hot. But, it is not unbearable. There are lots of airconditioned attractions when you need a break from the heat. I'd much rather be too hot at WDW than too cold. Just make sure you give your little one lots of liquids and bring a reclining stroller with a canopy. We also found a mister fan to be a great help with the heat.

As far as the logistics of showering, using the bathroom, etc, I'm sure that won't be that big of a problem. Most moms deal with that every day at home anyway. I can't remember that last time I got to pee alone, lol!

Have fun and enjoy spending some quality time with your little one. My DS was almost 14 months last trip and loved it. I will never forget the expression on his face when he met pooh and tigger. He ran up to pooh and gave him a big hug. Then he refused to let go, lol! It was really cute. He also crawled around on the floor with tigger.
