ALOHA to Hawaii ~ April 29 - May 14, 2012 Part 5

I posted the following on the facebook site a few days ago, but now am wondering if anyone in DIS board group else is still having issues also.

"Well my daughter Catherine wins the award for the crud a lot of us caught the last few days of and after cruise. She just spent two days in hospital because she still has it 5 weeks later and cough is so strong, again, that she has a pulmonary embolism and a cracked rib from the coughing. Sigh..."

I still cough a little at night and my asthma is a little more sensitive than usual, but nothing that is really bothering me.

Judy...my cough has subsided a lot but mornings are still the worst for me...I still have my puffer that I use in the mornings...this is the longest I have had anything hang on. I hope Catherine is finally on the mend after being in the hospital.

We are doing a BTB- July 28 with the daughters and grandchildren to Nassau and then John and I are continuing on the August 5th Canadian cruise but from what I have been reading it is not getting great reviews. If we wen't going on the first part I dont know if I would do Canada. We too are about2 hours away--no plane fare

 How are you all?

:rolleyes1 Not sure I should mention it but neither of us got sick at all, on the ship or since we got home. We had no trouble with the larger waves of the Pacific and only wish that DH had packed a cardigan instead of pull-overs as his choices were either too warm or too cool and a cardigan would have had the open vs. zipped opportunity. Otherwise--the vacation was "practically perfect in every way." :thumbsup2

I have not read reviews but the people who have posted on Picture of the Day thread are raving about Canada.

Well, just for the ease and convenience and affordability.....I'm happy to be booked. I don't care if I have 5 sea days and don't do anything else.....I'm on the Magic, how bad could it be?

I think you'll have a great time. Doing a B2B will make it a longer cruise and in part with the family and then part alone with your DH.....sounds perfect to me. I hope you have a great time.

Friends of ours did the first Canada cruise and they had a wonderful time. I am so jealous and wish I could go.

Still, I haven't given up home on a Western Caribbean out of Galveston yet and I have the West Coast Repositioning and Alaska cruise to look forward to next year. I also have started to plan for my 40th birthday in 2014. It looks like Disneyland for 3 or 4 days, Aulani, a Hawaiian Island cruise on the Pride of America and another 3 or 4 days at Disneyland. We have some things left to do on all the islands and had planned flying between the islands and stay on each island for a couple of nights for the second week, but flying is so expensive in Hawaii that it is cheaper to do the cruise. Of course, any cruise is fine by me.

Did anyone take photos of our DIS scrapbooking class? I have a 2 page layout dedicated to scrapbooking on vacation that includes visiting Island Paperie on Maui and the DCL class. I forgot my camera the day of our class and need a few photos to complete my layout. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if you can get refill pages for the scrapbook Linda got the class. I could not stay for the class because my eyes were not good that day. I am finally starting to do the pic and I think I will need more pages.

I'll send Linda an email and ask where she got the books....

I'd take one of the existing page protectors down to Michaels or Joann's (or over to your local scrapbook store (ie Wiggles & Giggles in Wethersfield) and match it as closely as possible. Most of them are interchangeable.

Here's the information I received from Linda...

"The scrapbooks come from SEI. You can get refill pages for the books through their website at shopsei.com

They are item #7-4412 they are 12 x 12 postbound sheet protectors and they cost $11.98 for 25 sheets in a pak. I wouldn't add more than 2 paks."

Hope that helps.

Hello April cruisers! I was hoping some of you could measure the blue custom Hawaiian shirt that was made for Disboarders. Our cruisers are having a hard time figuring out the size that needs to be ordered. (Ok That would be me!!) It would be AWESOME if we could get width armpit to armpit and length!!

Thank you so much!!!

Cindy, I can tell you this - I am a 'busty' size 18 and the XL was WAY too big for me. :rotfl: I had ordered an xxl for me and an xl for dh - I wore his and cut the xxl down to a medium for him.

ORDER THE RIGHT SIZE! You DO NOT want to have to remake the shirt - they are extremely well made and it took me HOURS to unpick the seams.

In our mail yesterday we received an invoice from DCL for charges from Hawaii!

When we received our final bill, it said that our credit card was declined:eek::eek: I knew that was impossible unless there was fraud or something. Went to guest services and they had put our charges on one of the gift cards! (Earlier in the cruise we added 4 small Visa gift cards to our account.) So they fixed that and put in on the correct card... or so I thought.

They put it on one of the other gift cards!:rolleyes1 It really didn't dawn on me when paying the credit card bill because of the other DCL charges and such :rolleyes1 It is fixed now and all is well.

Moral of the story is... if you add gift cards to your account, make sure that they put the remainig charges on your credit card!

Did DCL offer that "all you can stuff into one laundry bag" one time service on your trip?

Determining the right size to order was certainly an issue, so since I had one of each before I mailed them out, I took measurements. I am certain the are not 100% accurate, but good enough.
