I am not an DVC member, but just rented points for a Feb. trip for my DS(17) and I at Aulani. It will probably be out last hurrrah before he heads off to college. I rented my points at David's. I have a couple of questions for you experienced folks...
1. When we arrive, is check in the same as when I am checking into a hotel?
2. Will I be paying the $35 parking fee as a "point renter" or do I get that perk?
3. I read that I should bring coffee filters. Anything else to bring that I might not have otherwise thought of?
4. Any other advice?
Thanks so much for letting me lurk here on the boards. The Dis boards helped me plan really successful trips to both Florida and California!

1) Yes check in will be the same as checking into a hotel. The desk is on the right as you enter the main lobby.

2) Not sure on this one. As a DVC member you don't have to pay the $35 parking fee. Not sure about renters

3) If you are renting a car, there is a Target, Costco, Safeway, and other stores about 10 minutes away, so don't worry. If you forget something it will all be available for you. Be warned that groceries are expensive but you can sign up for a Safeway discount card (free) and get some good deals.

4) Enjoy yourself. It's a beautiful resort. We had never been to Hawaii before our trip to Aulani so we had no expectations. The whole place was awesome. We drove completely around Oahu one day, stopping at little towns, beaches and interesting spots. Pearl Harbor was amazing (for me anyway, I'm a history buff).

We were in a one bedroom, our coffee pot used coffee that was already in a filter so regular coffee filters were not needed. I think each little packet made 4 cups.

Normally we make coffee in our room, however in the gift shop they had coffee, tea and the cold beverage station. So we bought the refillable mug and just got coffee from the gift shop. We did by a box of creamer from Costco for our room and used that instead of what they had. Hope this helps. It's a beautiful resort, you are going to love it
