We have had to re-think our arrangements for next year and, as a result, are considering going to WDW in January. OK, it will be high season for everyrhing, including DVC but we are still up for it.

We have enough points (borrowing some from next year) for 7 nights at AKV and 4 at Vero Beach. We usually end our trip by doing some road trips to the Gulf Coast or further afield but wondered whether there was any member benefits or discounts if we booked. and paid for, the last 3 days in a WDW resort. Not looking at GF or anything of that maginitude but one of the lower priced resorts. Shopping, shopping and shopping

As a DVC member you get 25% off DVC rooms, if available.

It might be worth getting an Annual Pass. You get a $100 DVC discount and then also discounted rooms at certain times.

I didn't think January was such a high season??!!

I will bear both suggestions in mind when I call Customer Services - probably later this evening.

jjpenguin - didn't know about the additional discount with an Annual Pass. We were thinking of buying them anyway as, fingers crossed, we hope to return later in the year. Yeah, January is not THE peak time of the year but certainly more costly points-wise than when we usually visit in October. This will be the earliest we have visited so it should be an interesting experience for us

January is in the cheapest season and October is in the next one up, so it will be less points for January than October.

It was Vero Beach that had a higher points requirement for January and, as you said, AKV was slightly less. Never mind though, we've booked

Unable to get AKV (I had expected this as we are only 5 months away from our dates) but booked into Saratoga Springs It will be our very first time using DVC and are really looking forward to the trip. Haven't yet decided on using a discounted DVC property for our last few days but will keep looking at what is available.
