Almost 40 inches, but not quite...

I'm all for the safety of my kids, but I will guarantee you that 1" of height (or less) isn't going to be a life/death difference.

I had my daughter try on all her shoes & we'd measure her. She had a pair of boys shoes that light up--those easily added about 1" of height, while not looking like we were going for the height. She had a pair of cowboy boots that had a bit of a heel on them too, but they didn't look right with shorts :rotfl:

Just make sure your kid can actually walk (all day if possible) in whatever pair of shoes. And if the cast member says no way, just be happy with it & move on. The ride will be there next time.

Sketchers makes a shoe called pretty talks. They will give you about an inch or a little more. My DD wore them to hit the 48 mark. She did get pulled out of line and remeasured, but was not required to remove her shoes. She is safe and had no injuries. We rode rnrrc.

As a former CM, posts like this annoy me. Height requirements are there for a reason and it's not to make your child upset that they can't ride. You never know what can happen with restraints. As a parent I also can't understand why anyone would try to make their child talker just to ride a ride.

The height requirements clearly have safety margins built in and the 40 inches is measured with normal shoes on, so a kid who is 39.75 inches in bare feet will easily make the mark without their parents putting them in any danger whatsoever.
But of course understand that the height IS there for safety, so don't play games. If a normal pair of sneaker puts a kid over the top - awesome! if it takes a pair of 3 inch pumps, then just wait a year for that ride.

The problem with that is that CMs don't want to lose their jobs over something so simple as a kid who isn't tall enough to ride yet so they have gotten stricter with checking shoes and other things. I remember working at Mission: Space and heard that someone got fired because they didn't check a kid's height and the parents threw a huge fit when the person at the second checkpoint would't let them ride.

On our last trip our 2 year old wanted to ride the Barnstormer which is 35" - she was roughly 35" but I prepared her that she might not be tall enough, etc.

We got to the first measuring stick and she just made it. Later in the trip we went again and I go up to the CM to have her measured and they just waved us by-- I guess they can tell just by looking or remembered us? I was just surprised since I heard how they were so strict on disboards.

Just tell you 3.5 year old they might not be able to ride - luckily toddlers can be easily distracted by all the other fun things at Disney! My 2 year old was upset she couldn't ride Everest- luckily there is an ice cream cart nearby :rotfl:

I agree with this! Also, when I was a CM we would give kids that weren't tall enough a card that said when they are talk enough, they can go in the fast pass line with their party. It never expired but I'm not sure if they still do that.
