Hi: Looking at the allstar family suites. Just wondering if anybody had any problems with the suites? Or was everyone quite happy with them. They look great.

Deb.

I am interested. I just booked one for AUg.

We really enjoyed the Family Suites at All Star Music.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

Info thread--Pullouts in Family Suites at ASMU with photos of how the pullout is supported.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

We are in one right now and absolutely love it! It's our first time staying on-site and I don't feel like we're staying at a "value" resort at all. Sure, things aren't very fancy but it has everything you could want, the suites are great for families, the pools are awesome (and heated), they show movies at the pool every night and play games during the day. We are sold. We may try out other resorts in future years when some of our finances loosen up, but for now this is IT for us! It's so great to have somewhere to put DD to bed and DH and I can still stay up and watch tv in our room.
I have taken tons of pictures and we've only been here 2 days. I'll post everything when I get home over the weekend. In the meantime, if you have any specific questions feel free to ask me :)
(minnie61650 is honestly the best source of info. for ASMu family suites here, reading her posts had me sold!:wizard: )

Hi you lucky girl to be in wdw right now. I get a tinge of excitement to think of being there now.

Did you get any kind of a discount when you booked your suite? I tried for a AAA discount but it did not seem to be there.

Also do they have a toaster in the kitchen part?

My daughter gets severe migraine headaches and needs a resort with some shade, is there shade there, while walking or around the pools? I would need to ask for a suite away from noise for her sake, I guess they must have some suites facing away from the pool. Have fun.

Thanks,

Deb.

My family stayed in ASM family suite last August. We loved it, we are a family of 5 and it was so great to have 2 bathrooms! :cool1: But the pool is very noisy from 2pm to 10pm. We had a great time at the pool and liked all the games, dancing, and movies but if you are looking for quiet that might be a problem. Our room did face the pool but some are on the back side. The noise in the room wasn't too bad, but you could here that something was going on outside. It started to quiet down about 8pm when they put a movie on an inflatable screen by the pool.

We stayed in the Calypso building and it is right near the main food court/bus stop/everything area, so we did not walk long in the sun to get to the building. However, there is no shade in the line area for the buses. There is an overhang in the back by the building which your daughter could stay in until the bus comes then jump in line with whoever is holding your place.

Overall, we love the suites and would stay there again!

But the downfall is the expense, and never ANY rates for these rooms which I always need and use.

We are just back from a 5-night stay at ASMu Family Suites - Calypso 1, #1648 on the "back side" away from the pool. Off of our walkway there was some greenery and then the parking lot between Calypso and the Coke cup at ASSports.

For this trip, I debated between WL and the Family Suites. We are a family of four, two adults and ds' 10 and 13. As the boys are too big and too different in sleep styles to comfortably share a double bed, the moderates are out for us. Although a WL bunk bed room was calling our name, in the end, since I was unable to apply any discount codes to our reservation, I could not justify spending more money for less space, especially since we are by nature Park Commandos and spend very little time in the room.

So, instead of a smaller room at WL, we gave up the atmosphere and location and got separate beds for the boys, a separate bedroom for us, two bathrooms and a kitchenette which we used for breakfast.

We had a great stay. Check in was smooth and efficient. We only used the food court once for a late dinner after arrival. After a 10-hour car ride, my boys got in the pool late on New Year's Day, although it was already cold and getting colder.

We left for park opening each morning and came back after fireworks or dinner each night. The room was clean and well stocked with extra pillows and towels, and coffee for the coffee machine.

Basically, after check-in, with the exception of that night's trip to the food court and picking up a package in the gift shop one night, we never even saw another ASMu cast member, but for us that is a good sign. It means we had what we needed and there were no issues to deal with.

There were pool activities and movies scheduled each day, but again we were in the parks and it was so cold I imagine they moved indoors.

Since we had our van, we drove to the parks each day so again, we saw buses but did not use them. The location is great for Animal Kingdom, MGM and Epcot. A bit further to Magic Kingdom and I debated taking the bus that day and maybe should have for speed in the morning. However, as Jan. 2 was the coldest day of a cold week it was nice to have extra clothes for evening available in our vehicle.

Sorry to ramble. Overall we give ASMu Family Suites a big :thumbsup2.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I just booked the ASmu Family suites with my AAA card. The price came to $149 a night. This is for Aug 15 - 21

Nice reading about the suites - they're on our list of possiblities. Any feedback on the buses would be appreciated. Is there any help w/luggage? Mainly for the departure date - we have so much luggage I can't imagine hauling it all by ourselves. ME will handle the arrival if we use ME. Thanks for any advice.
