I went to the WWoHP back in 2012 and know I was able to take pictures in the queue because I have the pictures to look at. What I can't remember is at what point I was made to put my bag in a locker and if I just snuck my camera onto the ride with me or what. It's not like me to do something like that, but everything I'm reading makes it sound as though the lockers are right at the entrance, meaning riders would have to stash away their bags before they have a chance to walk through the queue.

The reason I ask is I'm planning on bringing a nicer camera when I go next week and would like to get some better-quality pictures inside of the castle. Will I be able to take my bag/camera through the queue, then put my bag away at some point before boarding the ride, or will I have to go on a separate castle tour to get pictures?

Go on the castle tour, you won't be blocking anyone in line and you can spend as much time in each room as you want. Then go through the regular line to ride.

The lockers are before the greenhouse. You'll need to follow atricks' advice if you want photos with a camera that won't fit into a fanny bag.

I just went and looked at the picture I took in the greenhouse in 2012, and there are definitely other people in the line holding bags, so it wasn't just me who still had my stuff. Guess the procedure must have changed or something. Well, thanks for clearing that up!

Lots of people don't ride, so they are allowed to have their bags. Anyone that still had their bag in the greenhouse either would have been doing kid swap, not riding or was going to get sent back to put their stuff in the locker.

The procedure for putting stuff in the lockers has changed. Originally, the line went straight into the castle and directly to the lockers. This caused quite a line. Now, there is a queue that goes beside Hogwarts that allows more people in it before you hit the lockers. Your photos may have been of the locker queue.

Here's a youtube video for you that shows you the process... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7G04MMZH04#t=17

:thumbsup2 I love FJ, but unfortunately it makes me nauseous. So sometimes I walk through the line with my family but don't ride. If you happened to see our group last week, you would have seen several people with bags. We had three non-riders in our group of 12, and we held our bags plus the bags of everyone else so no one had to do the lockers.

Yep, so far DH is the stuff-carrier. Not anymore for FJ as it makes him sad to walk through without riding, but in the past.
