Allow me to tell you about today's "friendly" pirates - a giant misnomer

the "find an empty lobby" or "wait until all players are there" arghument does not hold water when every lobby is full and you have to click like crazy to start a game, get your game and hold it is what I would do. It is not rude, it is competing for that spot just like everyone else does. Booting is not rude. Demanding an explanation or repeated joining is.

I am so glad I do not play pirates and on friendly days it is almost impossible to find a team to play with cause most of my friends seem to play pirates together already. So I do not worry about it. Just do the quests over and over again and I am happy.

Littlebelle walking to her our little drummer :lmao:

Sorry, I seriously doubt that all "14 games" that she was booted from were 7 player games waiting on the 8th player.... Maybe once or twice, but that could not have happened each and every time.

She's frustrated because she played 1 game in 38 minutes due to the fact that everyone was playing friendly. I can understand the frustration. But I think it's wrong to say that those people were RUDE.

Just join a game of battle and take no prisoners, let your frustrations sink with your opponents. :lmao:

These double days are tough. When you don't have a preset team, it feels like Junior High.

And I never have a preset team, so it always feels like Junior High.

I wish I did not live on the West Coast and work, but I do. I get home pretty late, so all the friendly players I know are "done" by the time I log on for pirates.

I know it's my problem, but it still doesn't feel so good. There is logical... which tells me it's cool. Then there is emotional... where I feel like crud.

P.S. I feel bad for the new players who don't understand "friendly". They only know they are getting booted. They don't know why, and they attempt to get back into the same game thinking it is a mistake. I do not consider it rude for someone that does not know what "friendly pirates" is to try and get back into a game. I think they feel it was a glitch or something...

dittofication!! mtlhddoc, you are my hero dude! :thumbsup2

Are you telling me that you and your usual group doesn't boot anyone when you want to be sure it's "friendly pirates" only?
Yep, we almost never play friendly and when we do, we go to an empty lobby.

If you have a group of 8 friendly players, you should split up into 2 teams of 4 and play. It goes much quicker and fewer wait times in lobbies.
Exactly.

Ok - I don't post much at all anymore, but you are all missing the point. If you are playing friendly and have a set "plan" or "system" - fine. However, don't start the game until all of your players are present and try to go to an empty lobby so you don't completely stop all other games from starting. ...when those games are sitting on the screen in a full lobby, with 7 of your players present, it should not heve been started. If no other games can leave - your other player cannot enter. Find an empty lobby. Make sure all of your players are present before beginning the game. And try not to be rude about it, that's all she was asking.
Exactly.

Believe it. It did.

Just thought I'd clear some of that up.

Oh really?
I thought I saw your group booting some people in a not-so-empty lobby.
But I could be mistaken, since I was not paying that much attention.

Anyhoo, I think that its just a game, and there are many ways to fix your problem: Make your own game, join a game with less people, play ship battle instead, play a completely different game, or ask your own friends to start a group of friendly pirates.
I have to agree with Pink on this, it is frustrating, but I do not see them as rude. They have as much right to boot anyone they want as you do, but they just choose to use it while you do not.
I also do not like it when people over-generalize on 'new people'. New they may be, but I have seen my share of older players boot, rejoin games after being booted, be rude, etc. I don't believe anyone is really that innocent or guilty in booting, it's an option, so use it.
In the end, its just a game for fake credits, friends, and to waste time when you reaaalllyy should be doing something else. ;)

-dumbooo =]

I can see both sides of the coin here! Friendly pirates is great when you have a group of people playing together who know the rules. It works well and everybody gets great credits.

It becomes difficult when some of your players need to leave or you happen to be on at a time that none of your regular players are on, which I believe is the situation described in the first post by Jegrezo. Then it becomes extremely difficult to join a game because everybody else is all set and they do not need an extra player. Another problem develops when you have so many friends playing and you cannot make teams large enough. Splitting the teams to groups of six often works well and usually can incorporate the extra player.

I don't think it is anyone's intention to be rude and I know some people are so desperate to start the game as quickly as possible that it is often difficult to get in that "sorry for the boot" before starting. I know that if I try to take the time to write that, I end up with those random people who will continute to jump in even after we have tried to tell them it is a friendly game and then verbally attack the group. Now I know that Jegrezo never does this and I also happen to know that she does not boot either, so I understand and feel her frustration.

I was on and off yesterday, mostly off due to some major internet problems. When I finally got back on, my original group was already in games with other players, but I quickly found a new group to play with. After I disconnected yet again, I got back on but all the groups were pretty full. My solution was to play random battle games. While the credits were not as great, it was still giving out the extra points for the win so I would average 350-400 a game. Still pretty good.

With all that said, I get booted from pirate games ALL THE TIME!! Whether it is battle or flag, I seem to be the one to boot. Sometimes because the players think I am too good at battle and don't want to play against me, sometimes because they get mad that I "run" when in fact I am trying to get ammo and health (please, will these players ever understand that I have to supply my ship?). But for whatever the reason, I tend to get booted from games more often than not. It no longer bothers me at all. Sometimes it is actually funny because I sometimes end up on the opposite side of the player that has booted me and I can guarantee that I totally enjoyed beating the pants off of them.:rotfl2:

It is easier for me to play on double battle days. Since I have not found a way to play "friendly" battle, nor have my friends-games are easier to join over all.

I think the real solution here is to just make all pirate games double every day of the week, then there would not be this desperation of joining in specific games on specific games. It would give everyon the opportunity to earn good credits. I mean, if they continue to sell magic at 10,000 credits a pop, they need to improve the credit earning factor as well.

I have seen the same while waiting in the lobby with my group. ;) The Tuesday before last I believe. The lobby was packed...and mostly with Dis ppl.

It is just a game, however. Certainly nothing for everybody to develop hyper-tension over. :) That was yesterday - today we all move on....................

Friendly pirates.... hmmm.... perhaps rude pirates is the more appropriate.

Going on 38 minutes, 1 game played.

Please, think of others while you are playing "Exclusionary Pirates."
Awww, I am so sorry to hear this! Unfortunately, things can get pretty frantic on double credit day. It is hard for the players to slow down and accept another "friendly" in their game when they already have an even number of players and they get a good clip going....from game to game. Maybe if you can make arrangements to play with other friends before the day of the playing? :confused3

Why did you sit there for 38 minutes and try to join other teams? You could of easily started a game and I am sure not everyone in the lobby were all playing with an established group.

I always play friendly pirates as I can not stand the rudeness in a game or the cheap, cheater accusations so it is very common for me to boot.

I think the most aggrivating is when you boot, explain it is friendly then they rejoin immediately! Sometimes even explaining does not do it.

With my usual pirate partners busy with family today, I have spent the last 30 minutes trying to join a pirate game - any capture pirate game.
This is exactly why I left your game last night - so you and I, both, could play. I hate waiting for Pirate games to fill so I can play/earn credits.

In busy lobbies, full enough that no further ships can land there, groups of 7 sit with games open waiting for a game to leave so their remaining person can enter. Well, that's not going to happen until they leave because the lobby is full. Why sit with a ship of 7 people in a full lobby and call me the rude 1 when I join your game that is shutting down the dock?
This makes me laugh every time...lobbies full of half-empty games, yet the room is completely full so it's obvious nobody will be coming in to join any of them. Luckily I usually play with my wife, so I can just tell her (four feet away) to join this or that game, or go to another lobby. lol

Dreams -

:) I really like friendly pirates. However, I have to agree with you that groups of 8 are much too large to be playing together. Why don't they split the groups up into 2 games of four? The lobbies will move much faster, there will be less lag, and the games will be much quicker :)

I also like non-friendly pirates, where you team up with one friend and own every team that comes at you... OK That's never happened to me ;)

Sugar :)

If they brought back some Double Mansion, there would be at least one less person gracing the Pirates Lobby. :rolleyes1

My regular pirate partner recently added his friends to our game, doubling up the number of players to 8. Yesterday we made half of what we usually earn on double flag days because we spent more time waiting for everyone to show up (infernal lobby queues! multiple room hops!) than actually playing the game.

In the past I'd see groups of 8 waiting in the same lobby instance while my friends and I played 2 - 3 games. While they stood around earning nothing, we raked in 800 - 1200 each.

When I'm flying solo, I like to start my own games. Cuts down on the drama and heartache.

Last time I checked, I never booted myself from the game. Oh wait, there was that one time...:p

ROFL that's funny. :rotfl:

Another solution that i've found to work sometimes is to play level 2. It seems more people are interested in either level 1 or 3. However this doesn't always work. Just thought I put my own two cents in.:upsidedow
