Anyone have any suggestions or advise for traveling to Disneyland with a child that has food allergies? Anyone with experience in that? My son is Ana to Peanuts and allergic to milk, eggs, and soy. TIA
 
Subbing. My 3 yr old has the same allergies (though not nearly as bad to peanuts, but he's never had them in his life to be safe), plus a mild allergy to wheat. He can have small amounts of wheat and soy but we avoid peanuts, eggs and dairy because I know that makes him break out in rash.

last time we went he was 2. He was still nursing. He was going thru a ridiculous picky phase and we packed heated chicken nuggets for him to eat. We also bought mil alternatives at walmart for him to have in the mornings.

As far as eating in the park, I'd love advice on that too as he's expanded his menu and we're heading back next year
 
Non-dairy milk is pretty much non-existent at DLR, and they places that do have it (for coffee) have soy milk. So I'd bring your own shelf stable non-dairy milk of choice if your child drinks "milk." As far as table service, just note on your reservations the allergies and you'll be accommodated. For counter service there are no longer allergy lists at guests services, they suggest you go to each location and ask for their allergy binder. I'd recommend reviewing menus on Disney's site and allears (sorry, but the ones on this site don't get updated often) and seeing what might work and then ask at those locations what they can do. Most places that serve burgers and hot dogs will have a gluten free bun, so that will be a starting place for wheat. For dairy and eggs, I'd look at vegan recommendations. If something says it's vegan if you omit meat and cheese, you know you can probably just omit cheese. Just keep in mind that ordering allergy safe food will often take longer, so I would try sending a parent ahead to order when possible and bring your own safe snacks to avoid a situation where someone is starving and an order will take extra time.
 
I have a peanut/tree nut allergy son and my brother has one with egg allergies. We were just at DL together last month. At the buffets and table service restaurants, someone from the kitchen will come out and talk to you about food needs for your child and can make something special for them in a seperate part of the kitchen that is designed so no cross contamination occurs.

At counter service, we just stayed away from things that obviously would have egg or nuts in them. If there was a concern about a specific menu item, we'd ask and they'd tell us.

I can tell you that anything that comes from the central bakery (which is just about anything bread/treat related) they will tell you is not safe because of cross contamination.
 

Thank you everyone. I guess I should pack an extra suitcase of safe snacks for him just in case.
 
This July will be my first trip to DLR with my new food allergies (fish and shellfish). Last June we went to WDW. At table service the chef came out to talk to you. At CS, the manager was called and took the order. I always had an idea of what I wanted so I would ask about that. I have heard that it is the same at DLR so I hope it goes as smoothly. It does take the meal longer to arrive.
