Hi everyone,

I have a flight booked on airtran flying out of LVIA (ABE) for this month to orlando. Airtran recently started flying out of LVIA in June and wanted to get some feedback about your experience if you have recently flown with them from LVIA.

TIA

Good question, as I too have upcoming reservations; in October and also in January. Years ago there were some non-stop flights from ABE to MCO but it has been a very long time and I'm thrilled to again have a non-stop/Magical Express airline from ABE! I'm not real thrilled about the return flight time (something like 12:30 p.m.) but it's worth it for the price, nonstop, and ME.

we flew back from orlando to allentown with them on 6/28
flight was on time, price was great, no issues at all
we are flying with them roundtrip on 9/26-9/30 excellent price
with the 25.00 coupon offer and free seats with kayak.com
any other ?? feel free to ask
have great trips

Yes, one question about free seats with kayak.com. I've always booked directly with airlines in the past. If I go thru kayak.com will I need to register with them or anything and will a seating chart automatically come up or do I need to do anything to prompt seat selection? Thanks so much.

you start out on kayak.com when you put in your
dates it will list prices and airlines. when you select airtran
it will take you directly to the airtran site and booking is
done there. when it is time to select seats it will show the
price of the seat but when you select the seat it will be free
(i hope that makes sense) also keep in mind the prices on
kayak seem a little higher then the airtran site but it is because
they include all fees and taxes. you do not need to register on
either site. we used kayak and 8 of the 25.00 coupons and saved
248.00

Thanks so much for the quick response. We usually fly SWA out of PHL ...which is a two hour drive for us.......I think we may try Airtran out of ABE for our next trip......ABE is an hour drive.....not to mention to convenience of a much smaller airport.

My MIL has used AT out of ABE 4 times in the last month with no delays or issues. We only live 15 min. from ABE so always use them over PHL (for vacation - for business it's usually PHL or EWR)...but I have to say the AT flight times & days just don't work for me. I'm willing to fly with stops to be able to leave at 6am & return home at 10pm. Hopefully in the future they will increase their service at ABE.

Bumping...anyone flown AT out of LVIA lately? If so how much does it cost to park there and are the security lines long? Thanks!

I'll be flying AT out of ABE next month. I have no idea how much parking is, I usually get a ride, but security lines at ABE?? :lmao: If you've ever flown from ABE you know why I'm laughing. In my whole life of flying out of ABE a few times a year I've never once seen any line for security. You literally go down the escalator & walk right through. I've been in there where the only other humans in the airport besides the employees are the security people!

They may have tightened things up since the drama on 12/25, however I'd still bet you could be through security at ABE in 5 minutes.

Also, starting Feb. 8, allegiant airlines is flying to MCO instead of Sanford out of Allentown so you may be able to snag a cheap fare from them also.

That's great to know..so paying an extra 10 per person to fly out of LVIA instead of Newark sounds great to me....even with luggage charges it'll be about the same as driving and parking at Newark...plus the convenience is gonna be great!

Oh ABE is like a ghost town airport compared to Newark! Even my 12-year old could navigate his way around ABE - there's only 1 entrance, 1 drop off area, 1 parking area (well, economy may be on the other side of the road) & 1 exit. There's 1 VERY small terminal with all the airline desks, one way downstairs to security & 1 way back up to the gates - they are all in the same area.

The downside is that they have limited airlines with limited schedules, and fares are usually higher out of ABE. To us it's worth the extra money to save an hour drive to Newark or Philly.

Good luck!

Just wanted to say Hi!

We live about 10 min from ABE and boy does that spoil you. Used to fly out of Philly, pay for parking or hotel room....now with Allegiant and Air Tran going to Orlando....it is so much easier
