Hi everyone,

We are looking at flying out of Niagara Falls NY with Allegiant Air for a weekend trip to Disney.
It's pretty cheap. About $160 return per person, so $640 for our family of four.

However, they have a lot of a la cart services.
it 's going to cost us extra for just about everything.

there are extra fees for booking the trip, checking bags, booking seats together, snacks on the plane, even carry on bags will be charged a fee.

Plus we will be flying into Sandford and will have to rent a car.

When I do the math, it's still Cheaper then anywhere else for our time frame.

However, I don't know anyone who has used Allegiant Air. I know it's no frills. Trip advisor reports are quite mixed.
Anyone here have any experience with Allegiant either positive or negative???
thanks!

Isn't Alligient Air the one that stranded March Break Passengers this year as they went into bankruptcy! I would not book with them! I know numerous people who were stuck having to rent a car to get home! 160 return to Orlando is crazy low for a direct return flight. I'd be very cautious!

I read a lot of bad stuff about them. I think they are ok if you travel alone without much stuff, but with a family, everything needs to be paid extra, so in the end, it's the same price as a big compagny.

No it was direct air that stranded passengers, we were in florida for March break, and we flew Allegiant into Sanford, and back! Just to see the price difference, our flights were 69.00 each way for 4 of us each way, so $69 x's 4 comes to $552.00 our total with seat fees, baggage fees, convenince fees?, and taxes was $923.40 so it was a difference of $371.49 for said fees. And this was before carry ons were being charged, and for 2 checked bags. That being said, I wasn't going to complain about it because it was under $1000 for our March Break trip. Loved both airports, small and quick! We rented a car in Sanford from Alamo, for a total or $235.54 for a mid size for 13 days. We loved it, but their fees are something to be desired!

Thanks for the info.
We are just going for three nights. I wasn't even planning on checking a bag.
Although now I will have to pay for a carry on or two anyways.
It would still be cheaper for us to fly with all the fees.

No problem, we had no problems, and would fly them again, if the price was right, even with their fees. I saw some flights in Nov for $46 so add the fees it would still be cheaper. I can't get over how much they want for March Break this year thought. $300.00 per person for the flight home, nuts!

We flew with Allegiant out of Youngstown, OH in March 2011 into St.Pete's Clearwater airport before they started flying from Niagara Falls. We paid $496 for 4 tickets. We took carryon luggage (no fees then) and we arrived early at the airport and got 4 seats together without any problem. They board the plane by Group A, B, C so if you arrive early will be in Group A. So no bag fees or seat fees when we flew. If your carryon bag is small enough for a weekend trip to fit under your seat (check dimensions) you can avoid the carryon fees. We would definitely fly them again.

We are using them at end of October for a 5 day trip, just me and hubby. Costing us $300.00 return for the 2 of us and that is with 1 checked bag as the checked bag was cheaper then 2 carry on bags. The way I look at it is a few of other airlines charge for baggage as well, Air Tran charges $20.00. Allegiant was $25.00 each way or a total of $50.00. We usually bring our own snacks on anyways, and because it is only the 2 of us we don't really mind if we are not seated together, so we didn't pay for seat selection! We are renting a car with reward points, and I am looking forward to having a car, no grocery delivery orders, we can pick up what we want!:goodvibes I will let you know how it goes!

We flew Allegiant last Feb and did not mind them at all. In fact, we booked them again for our Dec/Jan trip this year.
We like the prices and the ease of the small airports. As for sitting together, we have small kids and they let us board right after priority and preassigned seating. So we were all together. In fact, we had an empty seat and had lots of room.
I didn't find the seats any smaller than regular planes.
The negatives are there is no magical express and yes you do need to rent a car or find another way to your hotel. Yes, they charge for luggage, but almost every airline is now.
No, they do not provide snacks. But they are not alone in doing this. Bring some food with you from home and then grab some drinks once you go through security.
I do not remember any movies which would have been great to entertain the kids. But earlier this year we paid $620 for 4 seats and all luggage and taxes in!!!!! That price difference from other airlines warranted the purchasing of an iPad. Which then provides entertainment while waiting for restaurants, in lines, AND the airport.

For now we will continue to use Allegiant. As long as the prices stay low and they don't start charging for people by the pound. :lol
