We are thinking of using them for our trip in Dec and wondered if anyone on the boards had flown with them and what the experience is.
It's about an hour drive and we have a smaller airport near us that we generally fly from, but the prices have yet to come down on flights yet, so we were considering driving to Allentown and taking Allegiant.

Any thoughts, experiences, information would be helpful.
Thanks so much everyone.

We have booked Allegiant out of Allentown for our July trip. Love that they are direct flights @ 89.00 each way (with assigned seat.)

This will be our first time on this airline. However, There have been other posters on this board who have taken them (mostly from MA) and said all good things about them. :thumbsup2

Good luck , have a great trip.

I have not used them personally but heard good things about them. We were considering flying out of Allentown on Allegiant ourselves, but there are very limited amount of rental cars for my dates (Aug 5-16) at the Sanford airport and those that are available are not good rates. In fact, they were quite higher than what I can get out of Orlando with Dollar. So, for us, it's the lack of rental car availability that's stopping me from flying with them.

They are new here in Toledo, Ohio also and we are using them for our May trip. At $84 each way we couldn't beat it at all! However they have already pulled the Vegas flight in our city so hopefully the Orlando flight stays around for a bit!

Really? When I've priced this out I've always found that it is less expensive to rent from SFB than it is from MCO! Hmmmm....Perhaps I'll have to look this over again.

We've flown into Sanford several times and really prefer this airport over MCO. We've also been toying around with Allegiant Air from Allentown but are still undecided. I think all of the flopped charters from Wilkes-Barre/Avoca have me a bit gun shy!

I have noticed this also for our trip next month! We have rented cars from SFB before and it has never been this high! All were around $300. Go ahead and book at a couple of the rental companies and keep checking back! Our rental is now down to $140.00 from SFB for 9 days! We checked almost daily! Started at $280! :cheer2:

I checked my dates about a week ago (maybe less) and SFB wanted around $450 for Aug 5-16. This was a midsize car. Dollar had nothing available at all and I think I got that $450 from Alamo or Avis (can't remember who I checked now). Went to check Dollar at MCO and got a rental for $350 for the same dates. Even Alamo/Avis weren't as high as SFB at MCO. Maybe I'll try again......because I'd love to secure airfare under $200 pp.

YOu are still kind of far out so the prices are going to be a bit on the high side. Be sure to check out codes available not only on the rental's website, but on www.mousesavers.com. You're sure to get a deal when it gets closer to your trip. I've gone with Dollar twice from SFB and always gotten a decent rate.

GOOD LUCK!

We did reserve the midsize for $140.00. We also buy the entertainment book. Check around the entertainment book should be half price. The website is
w w w . entertainment . c o m ~ That is the only reason we get the book is for our car rentals! Great Discounts! My DH this time actually went to mousesavers and used the online codes for car rentals. There is even a Wal-Mart Discount. You don't even have to shop there. I will ask him what code he used.

I would still go ahead buy your tickets and reserve a car. You have plenty of time to watch the rates. They will go down! Last year at SFB I reserved a midsize for $120 for a week! That was using the entertainment coupon!

Me again! Just checked reservation. We are using Alamo, midsize car and used our entertainment discount. Our total for 8 days is $146.00.

That's actually a pretty good rate! Keep checking though. My rate has gone from over $200 for 6 days to only about $115 from consistent checking and rechecking of rates with different codes. That is for an SUV.

Have a terrific time on your trip and let us know how Allegiant is.

We actually live 5 minutes from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton airport, so this would be a better option for us, but the flight prices just haven't come down, which they normally do a bit in the spring. We are also gun-shy about the smaller airline, since several have left the area after only a few months.

We are weighing the cost of parking, etc for the flights to go out of Allentown, plus an additional night at Disney (what a hardship that would be :lmao: ) because Allegiant doesn't have a Saturday flight.
We're not leaving for 7 more months, so we have a little bit of time to make a decision.

Thanks to everyone for their input. How does the phrase go..."I don't care how I get there, just get me there if you can" :rockband:

I will certainly report back to you about how the flights were. Just want to let you know that INDEED there is Saturday flights on Allegiant from Allentown. The only day they dont fly is Tuesday.

Maybe they don't have them posted yet for Dec. When I checked online, no Saturday dates were coming up. I tried to select the date we are planning on returning and nothing. If we decide to use them, I'll have to call and verify if they will be offering a Saturday flight then.
Thanks for the update.

I've noticed that they only release certain days of the week this far out. As it gets closer, the schedule will look very similar to what is posted through July right now.

I'm interested in September and only two days a week are released as of today. I think in the next month or two they'll begin releasing more.

I flew Allegiant out of Bellingham, WA into LasVegas, NV and really liked them. The flight out was delayed about a half hour, but besides that it was a great flight, good attendants, and comfortable planes. I am hoping they will add more destinations from our airport. They are the first full size jet to fly from our airport and I would love some direct flights to disney!

We flew out of Toledo in April, it went just fine! Awesome price, no complaints!

I've been thinking about using them also. I'm just unsure. Thanksgiving 04 we used SouthEast out of Allentown and they closed without warning when we were in WDW. Hooters also recently went out of business. I love flying in and out of ABE but these airlines make me nervous :bitelip:
