Allegiant just announced they will begin service to my airport PHF (Newport News/Williamsburg) beginning 11/16.

This is a positive since Airtran is pulling out due to Southwest being 25 miles away. The other positive is they are CHEAP -- $65.99 before fees each way!!!

The negative is they only fly into Sanford.

For those of you who use the Sanford airport,

how easy is it to get to DW?

how long of a drive is it compared to MCO?

how much $$$ for transportation other than a rental car?

how easy to get transportation back to Sanford for departure?

Thanks!!!

I can't address many of your questions but do almost always take the Auto Train into Sanford and the drive is easy - about 2 miles to get to I-4 and then straight south to Disney - takes between 45 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day and day of the week.

We flew out of Sanford twice and found it was much cheaper to rent a car than taking a limo. You don't have to keep the rental car for your entire stay... you could just schedule it for your arrival and departure days. If you decide not to rent, Happy Limo is very good.

Just be careful with their fees. They have tons and tons and it really adds up. They fly out of the airport that is 45 minutes from me, but we usually drive the 1.5 hours to PHL instead for Southwest because they almost always end up cheaper (plus much better flight times and they fly into MCO).
