All You Need is Love: an offsite, non-Disney PTR (counting down to May 2018)

So, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you all for your patience this week as I've been truly negligent in getting regular posts up. Between this seemingly endless cold thingy still kicking my butt, my odd work schedule this week, and a few other unusual events whirling around in the background (the latter which I hope to be able to share with you sooner rather than later.....it's just a tiny bit too soon just yet ).....I've just found it difficult to sit down at the computer and type. How did I ever manage to work full-time and still keep up with "life"?

I love, love, LOVE the fact that you all jump in and keep the chatter going when I'm otherwise engaged. You have no idea how often I paused to check for updates on my phone and literally snorted with laughter at something one of you wrote [note to self: no more checking the Dis at work when I'm supposed to be being productive, my laugh is a dead giveaway ]. I really did miss this wonderful camaraderie over the last year!

I've also very much appreciated your encouragement to keep our Disney ADR's and try something new.......without you guys, I'm pretty sure those would have been long since cancelled and a couple of tried and true old standby's inserted in their places on the itinerary. Sometimes, its good to splurge....right?

Tomorrow, we officially hit double digits......and I can hardly believe how fast time is flying. 100 days from right now, I hope to have our pasty white bodies soaking happily in the Fountains hot tubs, gazing at the first few stars of the night as their soft light appear above those luscious palm trees . It's a very peaceful thought.

I actually use a rash guard for swimming too (pairing it with a pair of swim trunks, like a guy would wear)

Aquatica always has some really pretty rash guards in some fantastic colors. Maybe I'll splurge and pick one up this trip! You guys are quite convincing.

Gina - Kobe is AMAZING. We just went last week for my birthday dinner. (They give you a discount with their loyalty program.) It's seriously delicious and they give you sooooooooooo much food. I'm a picky eater as well but I can stuff my face there. It's an Orlando institution, so you have to try it or you can't ever move here.

Kobe is yummy! We've been to the one on hwy 192 in Kissimmee a couple of times. They use a lot of soy sauce, so be warned if you don't like soy.

Oddly enough, I just saw a whole display of swimwear at our Costco yesterday when I went to their pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions after my urgent care visit. How's that for the power of suggestion? They must be getting ready for all the Spring Break travelers.....that's coming up pretty darn quick.

You must find it odd not to be planning for March Break this year. It's been a custom for your for a long, long time.

LOL....after I left I did my grocery shopping and then went home, made a cup of tea and sat on my bed all afternoon watching TV. There may or may not have been a fuzzy blanket involved. Just for redemption....I did the paperwork after dinner.

I'm not really missing the March Break trip(yet) probably because I'm going to Mexico. I haven't even missed the whole school routine that has been my life for the last 20 something years. I thought it would be strange and I would feel at loose ends but I really haven't. I don't even miss GC all that much. Sounds bad but it's mainly because we FaceTime almost everyday.

It's nice to see more people agreeing with me on Kobes. It's so good. And it's so.much.food.

There are a few locations in the tourist area. There's one across the street from Universal (or, there used to be, not sure about now), one on 192 near Celebration, and one just off Palm Parkway and 535 area.

One rule is to go hungry. The piece of advice I was given the first time I went was "just keep eating".

Hmm, I think I've talked myself into a visit before you get here. Seriously, look into it!

I too wear a rash guard. I love it. I've had both short sleeve that zip open and long sleeve like a t-shirt. It saves on having to put so much sunscreen on too. I usually get mine from Land's End.

No, that's the summer stock. They need to move it now so there's room to put out the snowsuits in May. Not a joke, totally serious.

Yes but it's made of the same material as a swim suit so is designed to get wet in a pool.

Agree, but Costco shoppers need to be planners for seasonal merchandise. For instance the sunscreen should be hitting just about now too. I like the timing for our March break trips but it is usually long gone by July/August just as most people are needing it. I am also totally serious that last May they were stocking snowsuits. Sold out by mid-summer.

Its gotten so far in advance now that I kind of think that if they just advance the clock on this a couple of more months now that they will actually get in line with reasonable seasons again.

Yes they are mostly marked to those who do water sports. Here is the tropics they mean less sunscreen and protection in the ocean from the sun and coral while snorkeling and such.

Yes it is confusing, the name doesn't really do it justice! It's a UV protection suit.

As for "the story" from our May 2017 stay......nope, I've never mentioned it here on the boards. I didn't do trip reports for either of our vacations last year, so that whole mess didn't get shared as it usually would have. One of the rare times where the Vistana staff let us down, and boy, when it happened.....it was in a BIG way . But, that will be a story for its own separate post.

The doctor who saw me at the urgent care clinic yesterday morning said he had to double check my date of birth on his chart, because he didn't think it could possibly be right. I know you were serious about snowsuits in May. I shop at Costco regularly and at mine the snow suits arrive in July. Followed in August by the full Christmas aisle....trees, lights and all. Pretty much all types of seasonal items are sold out within 2 weeks. The swim suits arrived at my store right before Christmas and were down to the last random weirdos by about Jan 3-4. Followed by a second round of different ones that are now almost gone. I haven't seen the sunscreen yet though.
