Thank you. Living in the city, it is easy to ignore the fires. But it feels like the whole country is burning.

I live in the state of Victoria. We had major bushfires in 2010, with a lot of people losing their lives and property. Seems like a lot of lessons were learnt from that time and people are now choosing to leave early if there is a threat rather than stay and defend. It's a cooler day here in Victoria; although today is going to be another *&^&$%^ of a day where bushfire threat is concerned. The state of NSW is expecting it to be a real stinker!

.....my borther has been back in the hospital now since Christmas Day - they done two more surgeries on his foot, but the MRSA infection won't stop....we are really worried about him...

It's worse than I hoped but not as bad as I feared. I think four days will do it for me. I won't be out in public before then!!!

....it's got my mother [and me] really worried because they can't seem to stop the infection....and, everything gets so much more complicated with his diabetes....

My grandfather was diabetic and was an above the knee amputee. I wish the infection would stop so that your brother can then progress with the healing and adjustment.

Kim I am so sorry to hear your brother's problems continue. It's been a long haul. I will continue to hope that he gets better.

My eyes are still a bit swollen and bruised. I'm back at work. I've been there so long it's like family so I don't care that they see me. I'm not as happy with the look as I'd hoped but I can see better now.

...you have no idea how much I wish for the same thing....the doctor is doing all he can to try to save as much of his foot/leg as possible....with amputees, the risk of death within 5 years increases by 50%! [...he's only 51.... ]

That's a tough call. Do you let him undergo multi surgeries or do you clear out the infection?

My grandfather had a lot longer than 5 years; but still passed away far too young.

I'll be thinking of y'all and will light a couple of candles when I'm next in church.
