Has anyone eaten at the all you can eat lobster buffets?? Which one is the best, how much are they, and is it really NE type lobster? My husband has it in his head to go to one and I am kind of dreading it.

I went to Angel's Buffet with all you can eat Lobster. Went Early Bird for $18.95 (I think). The lobster was awful, so tough you could barely eat it. The prime rib was good though. Don't know about the other buffets.

These places usally use cheaper Florida rock lobsters rather then the Maine Lobsters.

Plus, let's get real they are claiming all you can eat for MUCH less then anyplace else sells Lobster. You get what you pay for.

The only "bargin" lobster I have had in Florida was at Shells Seafood, but they only serve it one night a week (I think Tuesday). It has been several years so I don't recall the price.

Thanks I am actually glad I got two not so good reviews. I did not want to go and since my husband trusts stranger's opinions(ie Disboard) more than mine now I have some amunition.

I have been to two all you can eat lobster places around WDW. I enjoyed them both. Captain Nemos and the Boston Lobster. It doesn't taste the same as the fresh lobster off the boat in Maine but it was very good for the price.

I also live in Ma what are your favorite places to have lobster besides Brown's (salsbury), Markey, Little Jack's Hampton, and Ogunquit Lobster Pound? Have you been to the Rockport Lobster Festival? Can you tell I love lobster. I do not want to travel to Fla for a lobster. Have you been to the Chauncy St. Lobster at Kittery Point?

Bella -
We were at the Rockport Lobster Festival 2 years ago and it was a great time. I didn't have one, but friends I was with indulged. Don't remember prices, but every food item was bought seperately. Here's the link:

Hope you can make it - it's a fun time!!! :teeth:

Having grown up in Rockland, Maine I was skeptical of the all you can eat losbster places, but have tried all of them in the area. (Different times, guests, that sort of thing). I can honestly say they are all disgusting. I won't go back, regardless of what the next group of company wants to do. The lobsters are all overcooked, and usually not standard grade. The serving dishes usually have the serving utensil completely submerged. Nasty to think of fishing it out of the serving dish. The other seafood fares no better. At one, Boston Lobster Feast, the clams were filthy, dirty and gritty. Nope. Won't go back.

Okay, now there is NO WAY my husband is not going to listen to your opinion. If you grew up in the home of the Lobster Festival then I do not think anyone can challenge your opinion. That being said, I noticed you live in Orlando. Where do you consider the best place for sea food or lobster in Fla. I do not even know why I am bothering when I can go to Maine anytime I want to.

What about those of us who have never experienced REALLY good lobster. I've had tails at Red Lobster, never anything else. Will we also be disappointed?

wanger1969 , no I don't think you will be dissapointed. Any day you can have lobster is a good day. I have returned to these Orlando restaurants many times and I have eaten Maine lobster.

Well believe me, I hadn't had lobster for years before I went to Angels. And even though I'm not an expert, when I get a food that I can't even chew then I conclude that it is not good.

Where is the best lobster in Orlando? My house. I'm not kidding. I've yet to find a restaurant that can cook it properly here. There is something about central Florida that brings out the "overcooked seafood" in the chefs.

I even tried the lobster at Todd English's bluezoo. He's from Boston. He's a gourmet chef. How could I go wrong. Right? Wrong. It was the true sin. A bona fide New England chef serving overcooked lobster.

Yes, many folks believe that any lobster is good lobster and that is perfectly ok by me. Everyone has a right to enjoy their food anyway they prefer.

For me? The lobster has to be from Maine, and cooked properly. That means done, not boiled into insensibility.

AMEN!!!

I've tried these places--they are not very good for lobster. Truly. Unless you enjoy chewy, really chewy, stringly lobster, save your money for a very nice dining experience at another restaurant. Not only the food, but the presentation was just awful. You are not getting a bargain.

DvC..,

Just have to tell you I had lobster at Todd Englishs first restaurant Olives here in Boston. It was almost raw. Obviously, the guy has not taught his chefs to master cooking it. Then again Todd is not one of my favorite people for many reasons.

Really! That does surprise me to no end. I'm happy to hear what you say though. I found the food at bluezoo to be in need of a true chef, true training. The recipes are too unsophisticated and you are so right, the man has a thing for undercooked nearly everything. His risotto is chewy. Blech. I saw him at the Food and Wine Festival. He was personable, but more than a bit tipsy (no proof, mind, just rather clear and convincing evidence). :) At any rate, I had thought the restuarant here was having problems because it was new. Apparently not.

Oh, and I did try to email him regarding my concerns but the "contact us" on his website didn't work. Gotta love it eh?

Well I do not know if he was tipsy of if he was just arrogant. My husband had business dealings with him and the man is amazingly stuck on himself. Obviously, it is catching up to him.
