All the way from Japan to enjoy the WONDER of Disney

wow congrats on being the grand marshal. :)

If you get a chance can you post a pic from Tokyo Disney?? I always wondered what it was like. :)

Although not mine, I love this photo of my favorite park in the world DisneySEA. I will be doing a special trip report on TokyoDisneyland after Halloween so keep your eyes open. Lots of pics!!

That looks like so much fun!
It was FUN FUN FUN!! I think I sprained my wrist from waving so hard:banana:

Do you belong to Deb Willis site, "All Ears. com. She is looking for stories about how people won dreams at WDW. Congradulations on winning the Grand Marshsall for the parade. And it was nice to finally see a picture of you and your wife.
I haven't heard of this site, but would love to contribute

I just found this thread, and will take the time to read through all 11 pages, but first I have to say: Konbonwa and I can't wait to catch up with your tale!

we were stationed in Yokosuka from 2000-2003 and DH's very first ever trip to MouseTown at the ripe old age of 33 was to Tokyo Disney. DisneySea was by far my favorite of the two, though.

We just back from Orlando ourselves, I scored some Melon soda in Japan at Epcot, but alas, no Pinky Chodai (LOVED those commercials!).

Actually Ohayo Gozaimasu at the moment. Disney SEA is a must not miss for a true Disney fan. My favorite by far and SO beautiful. I always laughed at the Pinky commercials:banana:

We were some of those crazy people waiting to get in for the Pirates and Princess party that night!! :lmao: I had bought the tickets in advance and there were no refunds :confused3 !! We made the most of it with our ponchos----at least the lines were short...everything was just about a walk on:tiptoe: DisneySea is beautiful----I checked out the website the other day when you were going to "pop over!!" Take care and hope everything is working out with your new job!

I just found your report and read the whole thing.

How exciting to be Grand Marshalls!! You really scored high with that one. I'm so happy for you after that bad Epcot day. I always get rushed through Epcot also. Hubby always wants to hang out in Future World and I always want to explore World Showcase.

What is it about the People Mover? Maybe it's the escape from the heat because there are never lines. IDK but I love it! I'm also one of the ones that has seen SM with the lights on.

wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what fun to be in the parade...that really is a dream come true!!

can't wait to hear your scary AK encounter story, but most of all, i'm looking forwards to the cruise report.....DCL is definitely disney through and through..

(talked with DD last night - wednesday night tokyo time - she was having a GREAT time....with only 1 day left....she loves TDR!!!....we talked for a long time as she gave us a run down of the attractions.....
they'd had dinner that evening at chef mickeys - at the ambassador hotel - she said the food was great and the characters were a blast....very interactive...and she said pooh is the greatest ride ever....they went on it twice...)

I figured the tickets couldn't be refunded, but it was really bad weather that day. Disney SEA is the best themed and most beautiful Disney park in the world. I could just go in and sit down in one place and watch everyone. I feel so relaxed there.:thumbsup2

Thanks for joining. I don't know how to explain the fascination with the People Mover either, but for me I never miss it.:yay:

The cruise report is coming soon and I agree. True Disney Magic and Wonder!!:wizard:

Pooh's Honey Hunt in TDL is the most advanced attraction in the world IMO--GREAT and a MUST SEE!!:cool1:

After Magic Kingdom we rode the monorail to the Contemporary and took the bus to DTD. We had wanted to ride up front, but the CMs were very polite in explaining that because of the lightning that no one could ride up front. We thanked them and moved on.

Arriving at DTD the girls were hungry, wet and cold, but they were still chatting about the parade.:) We decided to go to McDonalds for a bite (seemed easiest at the time), but first we would stop but the shop and buy 3 giant towels for my princess: s to wrap up in. Problem solved for the rest of the trip.

At McDonald's the girls wanted to practice their English and order by themselves. I was proud because even ordering is difficult for Junna.:thumbsup2 Good Job Junna!!

After Mickey Ds it was shopping time. I told them to take their time and went off to the pin trading center.

Here is a story I hate to tell, but even it didn't ruin my day. I love pin trading and am the type of trader to give a pin away. Outside the pin trading area I saw what I will call a pair of PIN SHARKS:eek: I can smell a pin shark a mile away. Most people I know and trade with are wonderful and trade for the joy of trading. Pin Sharks on the other hand are in it for pure profit. They usually have a pin vest and suitcases full of pins.

Anyway I watched a trade in progress and was ashamed to be a pin trader, but again I had such a magical day I decided not get angry. I did politely tell the trader how I felt though before leaving.

What happened? well a teenage girl saw a pin that they had and asked to trade one off her lanyard. I didn't see the pin at the time, but later saw it up close. The pin she wanted was a standard, nothing special rack pin, but the lady wouldn't trade. She told the girl if you go in the shop and buy me a Limited Edition pin I'll trade for that. The girl did and got the pin. I then asked the girl to trade with me and saw the pin she had gotten up close. I explained to her to be careful when trading and took her in the shop where I showed her the same exact pin that she had recieved for sale. It was half the price of the LE pin she had bought.
She was upset, but I gave her a LE pin from Japan and she was happy:) :)
She offered a pin in trade, but I told her no thanks. :) Passing on the magic of my day.:)

After shopping we went back to the POP and talked about the day. Not once did DDA want to call or even mention THE BOY:woohoo: :woohoo:

Next off to the Animal Kingdom. We climb Everest, see our favorite show and a real life Gorilla gets lose in the Nemo Show:scared:

I love how you handled the pin trading at DTD. Classy.

It's amazing how a great day at Disney can make the boy be forgotten - at least for the day! :)

Looking forward to the cruise report - we did a three night in February and it was awesome!

Just my style.;) I have one problem with the cruise--4 days wasn't long enough:lmao:

It's so kind that you took the time to help the girl with the pin trading!:goodvibes

Ok since i have been a slaker and have been hanging out on the Teen Boards lately I had to catch up with your TR and wow its sounds like my dream TR great job Tokyodisneydad I need to work on mine also maybe this weekend lol welll great job!!!!!!!!

that is just so disappointing - people doing that with pin trading (and anything else for that matter)....how much can they make cheating people over a few dollars?....i'm glad it didn't ruin your day and that you left a little pixie dust and lessons learned with that girl...

i'm not a collector, of anything, so i've never gotten into pin trading...although i do have a few that we received on special occasions....i think the most unusual one i have is for playing a game on the Disney Wonder...my daughter and i played....we had to turn a potato into a race car.. ....my clever daugther, turned it into a mickey mouse race car....so we won two pins for "best themed design"....the CM claimed that the pins aren't sold anywhere...they're only given out on the ship for special things like that....
it's a really pretty pin that i actually wear on one of my suits.....

anyway....someone on another board wrote about having attended that pirate party the night of that nasty storm....how a lot of the things were cancelled because the weather was so bad....

(we haven't spoken with DD since wednesday night.....i know that she was going to check out of the hilton this morning -friday morning - and head back into tokyo for her last night in japan :sad1: - she and her friend fly to thailand tomorrow for a day or two in bangkok - then her friend flies home and DD heads to the islands in southern thailand for some R&R from japan:rolleyes: )

OMG - had to come back to tell you, tokyodisneydad cause i knew you'd appreciate it - she stayed an extra day!!!!
i guess 4 days wasn't enough...she stayed another day (she called us from the 100 minute line for pooh!!)....she was having a GRAND time!!!
she was in the disneyland parade yesterday (thursday)....she said that people got to be in the halloween parade by winning some sort of lottery...
anyway....i guess they couldn't pass on spending their last day in japan at TDR....and can you blame them????????

more to come....

I hope you will post a picture or two when she gets home. I understand and can say without a doubt--Tokyo Disneyland is a magical place and even though it can be crowded it is well worth a visit.

i guess it's time for her to start planning her next trip...
