All that was standing between me and Disney was 13,000 chickens!! Oct. 2010 PTR

Monday day 2

8:00 a.m. ADR at Animal Kingdom for Donald's Safari Breakfast - I am really looking forward to this one for some reason and so are the kids. I also like that we'll be in that park early again and can immediately grab FP's for Kilimanjaro.

After breakfast the plan is to stay at AK as long as the kids want to. In the beginning my mom and aunt were thinking the kids would like this park the least because they both don't care for the zoo, but for me this is my favorite park and probably will be my mom's as well. She hasn't been to Disney since AK was opened. Recently, however, the kids have been to the zoo both of class field trips and practically had to be dragged out of the place because they loved it so much so I guess we'll see. Bekah also really wants to ride Everest with me so that's exciting since she'll be the only one riding with me.

If everyone....meaning my uncle and possibly the kids, LOL.......gets hungry we'll probably grab something at Flame Tree

Once AK loses its appeal for the kids we'll head to Epcot. We'll only have one afternoon there with them so our plans are to hit Soarin' (if possible) Nemo and Friends, Turtle Talk, and Test Track, and also the Visa Meet and Greet. Also we have to do Spaceship Earth because Jake(5) can't believe there's really a ride inside the Goofball as he calls it....I love that he calls it the goofball instead of golfball or giant ball or anything else that kids might call it....so cute!! Oh and my mom INSISTS on Figment....she loves that little dragon. :-)

Anything else we get to will be great too before our dinner ADR at Rose and Crown at 7:40. Our plan is to stretch dinner out until Illuminations at 9 since it's a perfect place to see the show...assuming we get an outside table. (fingers crossed everyone) I CAN'T WAIT for the Chocolate Scotch Cake....I've literally been having dreams about it lately.

After dinner and Illuminations it'll be back to Pop for some much needed sleep!!
Sounds like an awesome day is planned! Hopefully in October the crowds will be lower and you won't have to worry about long lines. Then you can get everything in that you want to do!

Okay, that really is funny!

LOL I think my jaw about hit the floor. Don't know what she'd think of the 9 and 9:30 breakfasts my mom and I have scheduled for later in the week. :lmao:

I REALLY hope so too! Hopefully the crowds, weather, the kids' moods.....everything will be in our favor, but if not we'll just adjust. We have our priority must do's and the rest we'll just try and fit in as much as we can and go from there.

Tuesday day 4

We will get up and have breakfast at the QS at Pop at whatever time we all can agree on. Maybe by then even my aunt and uncle will be worn down a bit and want to sleep a little later "fingers crossed"

During breakfast we're going to ask Bekah and Jake which park and/or rides they liked best and will then spend the day at that park. I have a feeling we'll be heading back to Magic Kingdom again since it's usually a kid favorite, but that's fine by me. Hopefully the kids will agree, but if not then we'll probably go with Bekah's choice simply because Jake has already dictated a LOT of this trip and we've planned out rides and shows and a lot of other things he's wanted. bekah has never requested anything until a couple weeks ago when she became obssessed with us riding Pirates of the Caribbean first thing so it's only fair to let her have some say too.

We have a 5 pm ADR at Whispering Canyon over at Wilderness Lodge....none of us have ever been to WL so we're looking forward to getting to check it out for a bit. If we end up spending the day at MK then we'll take the boat over and then after dinner either back to MK for Wishes at 8 and catch a few last rides or maybe back to the hotel for a swim if everyone is tired and also so my aunt and uncle can pack since this will have been their last day. If the kids choose a different park for us to go back to that day then we'll take the bus to WL, but still probably take the boat to MK for any last rides they want to hit and maybe Wishes as well. We'll see how that all turns out.

Since I didn't get any comments on day 4 I'm going to assume everything looks great and doable and perfect! Haha Onward we go then...

Wednesday day 5

My aunt, uncle, and the kids will be getting up EXTREMELY early to leave this day. :sad1: Their flight is at 7:55 and I know the ME usually picks you up three hours prior to your flight which would mean 4:55 a.m. :scared1: Yikes!! Maybe since it's so early and probably not as crowded at the airport or on the roads they'll arrange to get them a bit later...who knows. Either way they will be returning home that orning very early. There are a TON of flights back that day so they could have picked any of them and at least enjoyed a morning with us or at a park, but my aunt INSISTS on a nonstop flight and that's the only one of the day so 7:55 a.m. it is.

After getting up to see them off and then possibly returning to bed for a coupel hours my mom and I will have our first day completely and totoally on our own. I'm actually looking forward to this. It's not that I want the kids to leave especially.....I know they'll probably by upset their trip is finished so soon, but I have a feeling that during the time when we're all there my uncle will be constantly worried about the farm back home and my aunt will probably insist we all stay together ALL the time because she would probably freak out on her own in a place she's never been. Plus when we're together my mom and I tend to get used as babysitters and they just assume we'll watch the kids and she won't have to "parent". I don't mind this most of the time since they're pretty good good most times, but I think by Wednesday mom and I are both looking forward to just having some time to ourselves to go at a slower pace and do whatever we want to do

Our first stop is breakfast ADR at 9:40 at Boma over at AKL. Last year on my honeymoon we stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and I fell in love with it!! I can't wait to go "home" to visit it and show my mom....I know she'll love it too! Our plans are to head on over and just look around and let me show her the animals...especially the giraffes.....and just all around the grounds whether that's before or after breakfast who knows, just depends when we get there. After we're finished there we're going to head on over to AK and get to do anything that we didn't get to do with the kids during our half day on Monday. Mom's really excited because she thinks she'll love AK and she really wants to ride Dinosaur which we probably won't do with the kids.

We're just going to take our time, rides some rides, some whows, people watch, etc. until the parade which I really hope to catch and then we're leaving for DTD. We have tickets for Cirque du Soleil La Nouba that night and then our plans are to grab a bite at Earl of Sandwich, do the Characters in Flight balloon ride (SO excited about this, hoping for a calm no wind kind of night) and then to Ghiradelli's (sp?) for an ice cream splurge and then just spend the rest of the night walking around, doing some shopping, whatever else interests us. I'm looking really forward to this night and then back to Pop for some much needed sleep and a later wake up call the next morning. lol :thumbsup2

Your plans sound wonderful especially day 5:thumbsup2 I was just thinking that your DH will miss you so much on his trip that I think you should go,the things we do for:love:

Thanks! I"m really looking forward to days 5, 6, and 7 as well. And I like the way you think about DH's trip. "Honey, I think I simply must come along to keep you company!" LOL I'll let him know all about it, thanks for the suggestion. ;)

Thursday Day 6

Wake up time - whenever we want!!!!

We would LIKE to get to DHS for rope drop at 9 a.m. but if we don't then oh well

DHS in the morning during which time our only real plans our to ride Tower of Terror if we weren't able to ride it on Sunday night and HOPEFULLY get on TSM since I've never gotten to do it. Other than that we'll just wander, do any rides we choose, see the sites, etc. Have you noticed how much more informal and relaxed our plans become when it's just my mom and I? haha

Lunch - 1:15 at Sci-Fi Dine-In

After lunch we're leaving and going.......who knows where!! We might do a different park or we've also talked about doing some resort hopping for a bit to check out the other resorts we've never been to or we might even go play miniature golf.....who knows.

Our evening plans include trying to get to the Boardwalk to just walk around for a bit and get something ot eat.

Friday Day 7

9:20 - Breakfast at O'hanas Character breakfast....looking REALLY forward to this and getting to see the Poly for the first time

As for the rest of the day no plans as of yet. Any suggestions??

Possibly Epcot for part of th eday then maybe MK to ride a few favorites one last time since this is our last full day.

Night plans - again who knows??

It's kind of fun and stressful at the same time having a day that I haven't planned anything for yet. The relaxing side of me wants to leave it open and let us decide that day, but the planner side of me feels a bit anxious about that.

Saturday Day 8

Sadly the only plans for this day is breakfast at our hotel and then the Magical Express to the airport.

Originally I had planned on doing a character breakfast that morning or at least a breakfast in one of the parks....I think it's a nice way to get just a few more hours of Disney magic and cap off any trip, which would have been fine since our flight wasn't until 2:30 in the afternoon, but then we decided we'd rather take a nonstop flight then have a two hour layover so we uped it to the 12:20 flight which means ME picks us up around 9:20 so no park for us. I'll just have to eat plenty of Mickey waffles at the hotel to get the last Disney feeling!!

Well, that's it for the itinerary at least. Anyone have anymore suggestions? Comments? Thoughts? Changes? Anything?? :goodvibes

I just found your pre-tr. I wouldn't have found it if you didn't mention it.

I love the red dress you are wearing in your intro pictures. It looks like a Belle xmas dress. Beautiful.

I have to go do some errands before work, but I will catch up soon.

Thank you so much!! I never would have thought about the Belle Christmas dress if you hadn't said that, but you're absolutely right it kind of does resemble hers.

Glad you're joining in. I'll get back to adding more soon.

It sounds like you guys may have to split up for a bit so that everyone can get in the things that they want to do. I think overall everyone is going to have the most awesome time! I am glad to hear, too, that they have someone to check on all those chickens!

I second Believeinfairytales. What has worked well for other big groups is to have standard meeting time - PS for a meal, etc.

Since you asked for suggestions on your PTR: One tiny suggestion from an over-40 report reader. Any chance of increasing the font size of your report posts? I love the color but find myself squinting to read the tiny (to me) text. I don't want to miss anything! :wizard:

Thanks for letting us come along on your trip and planning!

We love this breakfast!! Be sure to take the kids to "Flights of Wonder" aka 'the bird show'. It is really fun and even with adult kids we go there every trip to AK.

It will be so great to be a part of the 'firsts' with the little ones!

We had indoor seats but were escorted out to the Rose and Crown patio (while our plates were covered as we weren't quite finished with our meal) for the fireworks. We were quite satisfied with the arrangement. Much better than waiting for hours around the lagoon for a good viewing spot! :thumbsup2

Are you regretting sending me the link to your PTR? :lmao:

I'd be glad to increase the font size, no problem! Thanks so much for joining it!!!

I opted to skip the Flights of Wonder show last time because I'm terrified of flying birds, but I don't think it would be a problem, just me being a bit of a baby. LOL Unfortunately though we can't this trip because my aunt and uncle aren't allowed to be around any birds really, but especially exotic birds due to their chicken business so I'm afraid we're gonna have to skip this one again.

I didn't even think about your aunt and uncle and their chicken affiliation. That is interesting. You may have been a bit freaked as one of the big birds flies RIGHT over the audience. Good thing there are other reasons or I'm sure you would have done it ;)

I would have at least considered it had everyone else wanted to see it, but the bird flying over the audience probably would have freaked me out! :scared1: At least now I don't have to worry about it though....phew!!!

With my aunt and uncle there are a ton of rules that you just wouldn't even think about normally. Technically they aren't supposed to be around any birds, but that's hard to do sometimes and if it's just in passing or just seeing one at a zoo from a distance it's ok, but at AK with an actual bird show that would be a no no. I think the company just worries about picking up any kind of bird flu or other diseases and bringing them back and infecting their own chickens with it. That's also why anyone who works for Purdue and has a bird farm there can only be one every 20 miles or so and no closer for the same reasons.

Again thanks for joining in with me!!

I'm here! I haven't caught up on all of it yet, but wanted to sub so I could find it again :).

Hey everyone!!

Just need to vent for a moment.....

As I mentioned previously my mom hates rollar coasters and I mean HATES them. She also won't ride anything that spins either, which is a big reason for me going along when my cousins go so I can ride the rides with them. That's fine that she doesn't like coasters, but she's starting to bug me just a bit about it. This weekend we went over to my aunt and uncle's to visit and of course the subject quickly turned to Disney. Rebekah especially is SO excited she can hardly stand it. LOL it's so cute. Anyway, she's the little daredevil of the family. There is absolutely nothing too high, too fast for her. She want sto do it all. Her little brother claims he does, but when it comes down to it he usually backs out, which is fine. I would NEVER push either of them to do anything they didn't want, but this time Bekah started talking about Expedition Everest and how she really wants to ride it with me. Now I personally would love this because it kinds kind of lonely going on rides by yourself sometimes and I love that she likes coasters and bigger rides. Everytime she mentions it though my mom immediately jumps in with "Oh no, you don't want to ride that. It's scary and you're way too little for that." The height requirement for it and many of the others is 44 inches. Bekah is 48 and a quarter inches so she's not even borderline. She is plenty big. She's 6 now, but will be 7 before the trip. Do you guys think that's too little/young to go on bigger rides?

As I said I'd never "make" her ride them, but if she's willing why not? My mom keeps going on and on and ON about how terrified it makes her to think of Bekah riding those rides and how she doesn't think she'll let her do it. Umm..excuse me....you're her aunt, not her mom. My uncle's opinion on it is "if she wants to ride something you might as well not try and stop her because she loves that kind of stuff" and my aunt's approach is as long as she wants to do it and doesn't act scared and also as long as my aunt sees it first to judge for herself she's pretty much okay with anything too. My mom, however, just keeps repeatedly telling her and Jake both how horrible these rides are and how she won't allow them to go on them and try8ing to talk them out of it. I realize she's afraid of them, but the rest of the world isn't so she needs to back off.

Recently my aunt has been talking nonstop about how afraid she is to fly and now she has Bekah terrified as well. My mom and I had a bit of an intervention and told her she HAD to stop talking about that out loud in front of the kids and stop letting them watch the news and see things they shouldn't because it was making the kids afraid. She has tried hard to watch everything she says lately and wouldn't you know Bekah and stopped talking about her fear of flying and has let herself get excited about Disney. How is this any different?

Sorry about my rant. I love my mom, very very much, just needed to get this one off my chest. Almost no one in my family are thrill ride fans but me and I have a glimmer of hope with Bekah. Am I crazy? Do you guys think 7 years old and 48+ inches is too little for EE and SM, etc. ?

P.S. As scared as my mom is of thrill rides she actually WANTS to try Tower of Terror and is really excited about it....go figure! LOL
