Just verified what was being said in another thread that Pop is $5 (+ tax) more a night than the All Stars. This wouldn't be so big a deal if we weren't needing 3 rooms X 7 nights. We're on a budget, and that extra $100+ could buy souvies.
We've stayed at Sports, and while we liked our location there (football, right by the main bldg, not preferred but closer than some!) we weren't that thrilled with the theming.

So, which value would you recommend, AND what location in each? We like to be close to the parking lot because we drive, and close to a main hall, but other than that, we're open.

You mean you didn't trust me?:confused3 Just kidding, I'd confirm it too. Just because one person on the internet says something doesn't make it true.

I've stayed at all the Values multiple times except AoA. If they were all still the same price I'd go back to Pop but it's not worth an extra $5 per night. If I ever go back to a Value I'll try to get Movies if I can get a Standard room. That's not always easy because most of Movies is Preferred.

I'm just curious how you got $100 difference between POP and the ASR for 7 days x 3 rooms? I have POP booked at $492 for this August and if I take ASsports, it will be $393 for 5 nights, 1 standard room (at either resort). That's about $100 saving right there!

Personally, I would go with ASMovies if it's going to save you $100. It is the most Disney themed out of all the value resorts (with the exception of AoA). I like POP, but because AoA is just a bridge away, I want to check out that resort without hopping on the bus. My favorite resort is the ASMovies. But this year, we are doing POP.

7 nights at $5 additional per night = $35. $35 X 3 rooms = $105. This is rack rate. Maybe there's a discount on the All-Star resort you priced.

That's what I got, though, technically, it's $5.65 when you figure in tax.

Anyone else have some thoughts? I really appreciate the input.

Have to see what dh says when he gets home! :confused3

I always preferred Pop because it has its own bus - All Stars share between three resorts (or at least they did when I stayed years ago). We have stayed at all, and my favourite of the All Stars was the Movies because it seemed more Disney themed to me. You could pull up resort maps to see where you would like to maybe request a location at whatever resort you decide, since I'm not sure which buildings are closest to parking lots.

Are you planning on getting 2 connecting rooms? If so, the Music is a poor choice. They have fewer connecting rooms than the other All Star Resorts, as many of them were used to make the Family Suites.

I think you should stay at the one you didn't list, the Sports. On the rare occasion the All Stars share a bus, the Sports is the first stop.:thumbsup2

I think many people pass over the Sports because they think the theme will be kind of dark and masculine. And it isn't at all! The area by the main pool is called Surf's Up, and it is actually very pretty--all blues and greens and bright colors.

I've stayed at the Music and the Sports and both are very nice. However being the first bus stop is a big plus and gives the Sports a small edge over the Music or the Movies.

I have stayed at all the value resorts (but not AofA) and really like All Star Movies. I enjoy the theming, the food court choices, and the Fantasia pool. I just took whatever they had for a last minute trip and it turned out to be delightful-I have returned twice. I think it depends on crowd size as to how often you share buses (I've only had to once and that was on the new bus they were testing). The Pop Century was a nice time, and I appreciated my proximity to the lobby, but it was a little overwhelming at the 60s pool (we ended up swimming in the 50s--bowling themed pool). If it comes down to budget, you'll get bang for your buck at ASM.

All Star Movies! Great theme and a lot less crowded than Pop (including the buses!)

I must admit I don't understand why so many people prefer Pop. When we stayed there the buses where horribly crowded. They may have their own bus, but there are just as many people on it as the All Star buses and you have just as good of chance of having to stand. The lines for the Pop buses were always crazy long. The All Star buses may stop 3 times, but you may have to wait for a couple of buses to go by before you can get on one at Pop.

We are a huge sports family so we liked it there, plus we liked how we were picked up/dropped off first. We liked POP but would NEVER spend more money to stay there than any other value...even if its only $5. Its just the principle to me!

Anyway, I'd pick movies based on theme. Though my oldest would like music since she's obsessed with music! lol

with your kids - I would do movies - we loved it
are you going to pay for preferred or just do standard?? if standard request to be in the Duck section over Love bug (then use the Music buses - that bus stop is closer to you)

Movies is so cute and none of the buildings are too far away from the main hall. It was just renovated recently too. :)

Thank you so much everyone!

We are staying in standard rooms.

I think I am leaning toward Movies, and requesting Mighty Ducks. That way we have the option of going over to Music for whatever or not.

All of your input has been really helpful in solidifying my plans.

Dh at first said "stay with Pop," but then said "Well, we've never stayed at Music or Movies...let's try one of those."

I had toyed with the idea of asking for the Broadway section of Music, because my dd18 is a HUGE theater fan...but Movies just might work out a little better.

Thanks again! pixiedust:
