All-Star vs Animal Kingdom

We love Animal Kingdom Lodge--loved Boma & Jiko for dining. But we have always stayed at Pop Century & LOVED it. We are looking at Coronado Springs for another trip & honestly the teens are a bit disappointed!
The children will love anywhere you stay--and $2K is a chunk of change. As much as we like AKL & could afford the $2K--I would struggle to say it is WORTH $2K more...

You're gonna kick yourself if you change from AKL to All-Stars. No comparison at all. Sure it's more expensive, but you get a much different experience at AKL than any Value resort can offer.

As long as you paid rack rate for your AKL room, then FD is a possibility. If you didn't pay rack rate, then a bigger discount may come up once they release discounts for your travel dates. 40% off AKL is much better than FD, however the same is not true when booking at a Value as you'd get a different type of DDP that would not cover your table service ADR's. If you stay at AKL, take the discount and do NOT get FD. Your kids are too young, IMO, to eat the amount of food you get with FD. Me and my wife can't even eat two full plates, therefore we share our meals which negates FD for us. The cost savings is tremendous. I've done many comparisons on here and the savings is substantial. :teacher:

I totally agree. We have booked, cancelled and rebooked with discounts many times and have saved a ton of money. FD isn't always a gretr deal, especially with little kids. For us, the resort is a huge part of the trip. The food is fun, but I'd rather stay at a beautiful resort.

We've stayed at ASMo and AKL and I can tell you this much...DW and I hated AS, but the kids enjoyed it. Everyone loved AKL.

For me, I don't think about the cost, I think about the experience. Personally, I can't put a price on that. That being said, everyone is different. Do what feels best for you and your family.

If it were me, I would downgrade but I agree with others that it is really a personal decision. We stayed at ASMo because my kids are huge Toy Story fans. The over the top theme was so perfect.. my kids went nuts for it. If I thought my kids would go nuts over AKL, I would consider it but $2k would have me thinking twice.

I agree with this. Our entrie pacakge for 11 days is around 2500.00 with everything but airfare. I Would have trouble spending another 2000.00 for a resort.
