All Star vacation package vs. Downtown Disney resorts?

Sorry about asking so many questions. Lookin at the resort map, it seems like the distance to all the parks is around the same for Downtown Disney resorts and the All Stars. The packages that Downtown Disney offers are much cheaper. Is it worth it?

Having stayed at both within the last year, we preferred Downtown Disney Hilton. All Star Movies was great, but my family of 5 preferred the Hilton. Let me know if you have further questions.

We have also stayed at the Hilton and All Stars. While the Hilton is a nicer hotel, the bus service at the All Stars is much better. The DD bus will only take you to the TTC for MK and you will be picked up in the middle of the parking lot. I did not like that at all! They are very different hotels with very different "feels" to them. The Hilton is very nice and you will feel as if you have really left the parks, which is more relaxing. The All Stars especially Movies, is all Disney. It depends on what you are looking for. If you choose DD I would rent a car.

I have stayed at three of the Downtown Disney hotels and really enjoyed them. To be honest they are really nice hotels. If I had to choose though, I'd go with staying on site with an All Star. I have stayed at ASMU and ASMO and was pleased with both. Yes, it is geared toward families and does not have the same appeal as a nice hotel, but is still very very nice. I really have no complaints about the All Star resorts and would stay there again. You can't beat staying on Disney property for one. There is just a different feeling when you are staying with Disney, as opposed to staying really close to Disney. Also, the convenience of staying at the All Stars is out of this world. Having the food court, a Disney shop, nice pools, and great bus service is something you can't beat. I can remember staying in the hotels in the Downtown Disney area and didn't get that same feeling or convenience. I guess one of the perks is being able to walk to the Marketplace and Downtown Disney, but that doesn't do it enough for me. So my advice is to stay at an All Star. I really don't think you'll be disappointed in your stay....good luck!

i personally pick the all stars because to me it is more Disney Theme rather than in the Downtown Disney
