Well I just got back from a great trip to WDW. We really had a great time. At the end of our stay we had a one night stay at AS Sports. I was actually impressed when we got to the room, it was newly renovated ( we were in the surf section) everything was new. It was well laid out. We were near the pool etc. It was not bad. Now we get to the bad part... I know it is pop warner and cheer week, BUT where are the chaprones?? They were throwing things in the pool and hit my daughter, they almost knocked my one year old down on the steps of the pool. Cheering in the courtyard LOUD at 8:30 at night, running and screaming until after midnight... I was annoyed, but this was just a one night stopover for me, before I went to the airport. What about the people that saved and planned and this is where they spent there vacation? There should have been more supervision and Disney should have someone monitering the noise.

Unfortunately, chaperones can do only so much. It's the kids that were rude. We have had our share of rude kids in our lives. What we found is that if a parent isn't around (and sometimes when they are but ignoring the kid), we can speak up and point out in a nice way to the child what they are doing is inappropriate. In your case, having a nice word with the person who was bothering your daughter inthe pool would dampen (no pun intended) that child's entertainment. You would have just pointed out that he/she needed to tone it down.

As for the cheering at 8:30, you really shouldn't expect anyone to quiet down until 11:00. Running around outside until midnight is a problem and could have been handled with another word to whoever was doing the running. We've had to do that many times - and not to kids. Adults. Not running but standing outside our room taking and unwinding from the day.

The thing with staying at any reort, hotel or motel is that you have a lot of neighbors. Some good, some bad. But the good always outnumber the bad.

During Pop Warner week, the parents/chaperones are often just as bad as the children (when they are around) A friend of mine works at AS Sports and she HATES Pop Warner week. Oh the stories she tells!:rotfl2:

Unfortunately, the chaperones weren't doing their job. That's what they signed up to do on the trip.

When my son's class went to Branson, MO for their 8th grade trip, they were locked into their rooms at 10PM. Doors were taped shut from the outside. They had at least one chaperone for each four or five kids.

I agree with Deb and Bill -- the adults in charge ought to be keeping the kids under control. My DS went with Odyssey of the Mind to Disney World when he was in 4th grade and all the kids knew if they acted up, they were going to be put on a plane back home, at the parent's expense. Had my son acted up and got sent home, I assure you it would not have gone well for him once he got home. So, not only should the chaperones be keeping the kids in line, but the parents ought to give those chaperones 100% support so that there won't be any "my darling baby would NEVER do that" nonsense. Kids are kids, and there is plenty of ways to have fun while not knocking down toddlers or throwing things into the pool -- behaviour that is unacceptable whether one is at Disney World or at home, I should think. I'm glad Disney kicked out some kids and I hope that they do it more because it's not fair to everyone else. As for "quiet time" -- there's a difference between playing and having fun in a public area and performing loud cheers or otherwise screaming at the top of one's lungs repeatedly over a period of time. If most parents had a kid in the play area or pool who was just repeatedly screaming or "cheering," they'd tell him to be quiet because others are around. The cheering kids should have done one or two cheers, maybe, and then stopped. People would then be impressed with how well they did and not annoyed that they kept yelling for a long time. Those kids represent their school, their communities, and their parents and they sound like they were a horrid example. But the adults responsible for them are even worse because they did not convey to those young people that this behavior isn't acceptable.

can i get an AMEN ....from a parent who expects nothing less then good behavior at all times THANK YOU !!!!!!:cheer2:

I was there last week and it was crazy. It just wasn't kids being kids, it was excessive loudness and kids running around a late as midnight. I would like to know what the chaperones we doing. As a travel agent, we always have school groups supervised and under control. I shouldn't have to tell any to be quite, it should be the job of the resort or the charperones. Would you let your preteen run around screaming after 11 PM......Sorry I just don't buy no having some rule about loudness or behavior.

I can tell you where all the chaperones were... Drinking beer in the football section.

We were there for the final night of Pop Warner and saw large groups of adults sitting outside rooms drinking beers. Not just on or two, but they had LARGE coolers are were fairly plastered. We checked in at around 9:00 pm on that night and passed at least4 different groups of chaperones (with several adults each) smoking cigs and drinking beer while discussing the events. The kids were out running around and cheering well into the night, no one supervising. Thankfully the other nights of our trip were quiet as the majority checked out the following day.

To think.. I had been terrified of brasilian tour groups. They have nothing on unsupervised cheerleaders and footbal players revved up on caffeine and sugar.

My DH & I had this same problem at POR. It was late and we had already gone to sleep when several of the Chaperones were outside of our door making loud noises. They were laughing and talking very loud well past 12:00 midnight. When we first heard them we were going to try and wait to see if they would stop at some point but when they did not and it got past 12:00 midnight we finally called the front desk and said there was loud talking outside our door and we were trying to sleep. We do not know if the security guard or any other cast member asked them to please be quiet or if they just finally went inside. After that night we did have any more loud noise.

AMEN!!! My son has rules about loud voices at home and away. At least 3 teams got kicked out. To who ever had a child hit with something in the pool, I do hope she is okay but I would have went to the front desk immediately. Also anyone that experienced the bad behavior of these kids and adults including the drinking in the bar, you need to write letters to Disney and Pop Warner about your feelings. Hopefully Disney won't renew the Pop Warner contract if they get enough complaints.

Yeppers, three Pop Warner teams were kicked out for having some team-members involved in a brawl at a WDW resort arcade (I think it was POP Century?) at 1AM. It took SIX police units plus Disney Security to get everything tamped down. All 3 teams PLUS all the so-called "chaperones' + all family-members were kicked off of Disney property starting about 2:30 & given 30 minutes to vacate the premises.

agnes!

We were there as well and exprieneced the same rudness in the parks. VERY disrespectful kids. Luckily we stayed at the Poly CL and didn't have any at the resort my Dh would have gone mad. He was furious with them and just the cheering in the parks. I would hate to see how he would have been at the resort.
