All Star Movies vs All Star Sports: what would you do?

I booked All Star Movies at $117 for a short 2 night solo stay in January. Was thinking I could request Mighty Ducks and be close to Music bus stop and food court.

Saw the early 2024 discount. Only AS Music and Sports were available for $99 (though AS Movies Preferred was available for $121- just $4 more than my current reservation). I ended up booking Sports and figured I’d have some time figure out what to do.

What would you do? Is preferred room really worth extra money at Sports or Movies? I don’t mind walking, but also wouldn’t mind being closer to food courts and transportation (which is why originally the idea of Mighty Ducks at Movies was appealing). Theming of movies feels slightly more exciting, but saving money is always good so $40 can go somewhere else and I don’t intend to be at resort much.

I’d pick Music for the discount. It’s smack dab in the middle of both sports and movies and is super close to movies. Sports is still close walk but parking lot to cross (not hard tho). We use all the food courts at different times as there is slight differences. Sports seems to have the least difference in food though and music seemed to have better cupcake choices, lol.
But yeah, I’d def pick music over sports due to location.

I would definitely not choose ASMovie this time because the Mighty Ducks pool will be super crowded:

Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort

  • Fantasia Pool (Closed January 2024 – April 2024)

It appears that they've pushed the refurb back. Here's what's on Disney's website now:
"From January 2025 through April 2025, Fantasia Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will be closed for routine maintenance. Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours. During this time, Guests are welcome to swim in the Duck Pond Pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort."

Thanks for the update, I had not seen it. That gives me three options instead of two for my April trip. I will probably choose the cheapest resort (so whichever offers standard rooms) when the deals come out. I would rather spend the difference on other splurges this time. The All Star farthest rooms are not that far compared to other resorts.

I would just stick with sports or go with whichever theme you like better (wouldn’t pay the extra for movies or preferred). We’ve stayed sports and movies. Like you said, we stayed in ducks and walked to music for the bus. At sports we were in the tennis section and it wasn’t a far walk at all to dining/buses.
