All-Star Movies - Preferred Room or Standard?

We are currently booked in a preferred room at All-Star Movies for a week in September. I originally took the preferred room simply because the Enchanted Room Offer was not available for my dates in a standard room. I just looked and a standard room is now available, saving us about $80 total. We have a rental car so being near transportation isn't important to us at all. Are there rooms in standard that are near the food court for us to refill our mugs? That's about the only benefit I can see to having a preferred room but if there are standard rooms available that are nearby, what would those be? Is the $80 upgrade worth it for a preferred? Last year we stayed at a standard room at Pop and it was fine. Thanks!

You aren’t going to get “near” the food court without staying preferred. Another consideration is the refurb that is currently going on. Buildings 9/10 are the Toy Story section (preferred) and are being redone right now. Queen beds instead of doubles, one is a pull down that is a table when the bed is folded up onto the wall. Wood (laminate) floors instead of carpet, coffee makers, new shelving, etc. Although there’s certainly no guarantee of a refurbed room, some of the the preferred buildings are the rooms they started with which will be done by September.

My honest opinion is it doesn't make a difference and I would save the $80 you are walking so much on a disney trip what is another 1-2 min walk to get drinks. I have stayed in preferred room and standard at All-Star Sports and I was never like ah this walk is so long

I'm staying in a preferred room at Movies in November in the hopes of getting a refurbished room. I think it's worth the gamble for a new queen bed as opposed to the twins.

If you don't care about the queen beds, then I personally would save the cash.

Thanks for all of y'alls help! Decided to just keep the preferred - I want the refurbished rooms!
