Hello everyone! Going Feb 5-11 of 2006 and plan on doing a dining package. It is just DH, me and our 9 yo son who will be happy anywhere. Here are our major needs and they really are small:

Good bus transportation (as good as a value resort can be) I heard Pop is better because they don't share a bus true?

Good food court (we will be eating breakfast only at the FC but it needs to have plenty of choices and crowds manageable)

We would like to avoid large groups of teens like football players or cheerleaders because we had them at POR a few years ago and they made us want to pull our hair out.

We have stayed at ASMo but not at Pop. We did enjoy ASMo and the room size is fine. I read that Pop rooms have bigger TV's and modem ports for dial up.

I have read both the FAQ's threads for the resorts. Which do you think we should pick? If you have stayed at both which did you prefer and why?

THANKS!

yes pop does have thier own buses.as for the groups we were there last feb during the cheerleaders.only time we saw them was at the parks never at the resort.i don't think any were staying at pop.we have stayed at the all stars in the past and we like pop so much more the tv's are bigger i believe and we enjoyed pop's food court so much more.

If you've already tried ASMo, I would suggest Pop Century. We had always stayed at either ASMo or ASMu, but when Pop opened we were excited to try a new value resort. We (DH, DS9 and I) thought the buses were better than AllStars, no sharing with other resorts. There are lots of choices at the foodcourt. Have you checked out the Pop Century Foodcourt Menu?

I love the theme of AllStar Movies, but the last time we were there it was showing it's age. And we didn't care for the bus sharing.

Try Pop Century!

First of all, you are going a great week. We were there the same time this year and stayed @ pop century. The lines are so good and the weather!! The times before we stayed at All Star Movies and decided to try Pop because it was new. The buses are faster. We loved staying in the seventies bldg., your close to the pools and food court. My dd loved the pool and the props everywhere. We go to Universal Studios during the week of our stay and it was very convient to the interstate. We will be staying @ Pop Jan.13th 2006!!! Can't wait. You can't beat the rates too during the value season. :cool1:

Thanks guys! I think we will try Pop! I am leaning towards a request for a 70's room since DH and were both born in 72, or the 80's building because we remember the 80's so well!! When it is closer to book I will look at the map. From what the FAQ thread said it looks like there is not really a bad location there, as even the furthest buildings are only about a 5 minute walk to Everything Pop. Thanks for posting the link for the food court menu too! i had looked it over but after another looksie i think we will enjoy it there. Anyone had the tie dye cheescake or the twinkie tiramisu? Are they good? Just crossing my fingers now for another free dining deal!

mousiemom- I was hoping that was a good week! This year we went Jan 21-27 and it was great too! I was hoping it would be as nice since it was only a week later! You made me feel great about our decision to go that week!! We will also be taking a day to go over to Universal IOA. Thanks!

:cool1: We are going in July of 2006 and need 4 rooms  These are the two that I am looking at also. We will have a 7yo to a 50 yo so I was wondering which would be the best also :confused3

Thanks for the info :cheer2:

Looks like you've already made your decision--DH and I love both resorts and I think you will really love POP!

We actually thought ASMo had better transportation--yes, you share the buses with the other AS resorts, but there were more buses! We thought POP had a slightly better food court (tiny amenities such as half-and-half instead of creamer for coffee/tea, and brown sugar for the oatmeal).

The rooms and theming are very similar and you can't go wrong with either for a friendly, festive stay.

I haven't stayed at either one of the resorts yet but I will be at the POP in less than 2 weeks and I am very excited about this trip. I have read the same things about the bus being better at POP because the All Stars share buses so it could take you longer to get to the parks depending on which resort you decide upon. I picked the POP because it seems so much larger and not as confined space wise. Plus, I am a child of the 80's so I am hoping I can stay there. (I was born in the 70's but I grew up in the 80's and that's what I can relate to more.)

I would suggest POP, I always prefer to try out a newer resort over an older one if they are on the same level (value, etc).
Good luck!

I am debating doing either one of these as well in Sept. We usually do deluxes but decided to do value and get 2 rooms to take my parents along. I am leaning towards Pop since it is newer, more pools, no bus sharing but since we only have a 3yr old dd who LOVES disney movies, I can't help but think SHE would like movies better. I have looked at all the pics and I am still torn.

Movies seems much more spread out - is that true? More walking is not a good thing with a 3yr old and my older parents.

This time we stayed at Pop and I have to say I DID NOT want to stay there. We had planned on staying at SOG but DH "forgot" to book 2 rooms and by the time we figured out the error there was NOTHING left at any of the Disney moderates for us and they only rates we could find other than POP were $285+ YIKES !!! :earseek: I stressed and was mortified I would have to stay at POP !

Well if you look in my signature we are staying there again in Sept. It won me over. The rooms were nice and fit us all well. My parents came with us and we had ajoining rooms.

We stayed in the 60's building and loved the convenience to the pool. The food court had a good selection for breakfast and dinner. The themes grew on me and I really ended up enjoying myself !!

I would reccomend this resort to anyone !!

I had a great time at POP! I really enjoyed my stay - quiet room, away from the pools, and overlooking the lake! :)
