Hi. Not sure if this is the right board. I am planning to make my own gift basket for my 5 year old daughter and send it ahead of our arrival. I want to get the gift basket in the room before we go to the room. We have a am flight down, I figure while my daughter is watching tv in children's area, I can open the box that I have all ready sent down. I was wondering if the gift shop would deliver to our room the basket as well as if I buy something in the gift shop. Anyone ever done this? Thanks.

I see several problems with your scenario.

First, the gift shop won't deliver. You need to pick up packages sent from outside WDW to you at the front desk. So even if you pick up the box from the front desk and take it to the gift shop, they won't deliver it.

Next, there's NO WAY I'd leave a 5yo watching TV alone in the kids area. That's a huge, bustling resort. You will not be able to adequately see her from much of the front desk area or any of the gift shop. I'ts not a secure room, it's just a little section of the lobby that anyone can wander in and out of.

Why not send the box addresses like this:

"Your daughters name here"
"XXX party, arriving xx/xx/xx, reservation # xxxxxxxxxxx"
hotel name
hotel address

And let her think it came from Mickey Mouse? Even though it won't be in the room, it can still be a suprise to her.

Sorry, I didnt mean to imply that I would leave my 5 year old alone. I have never been there so I would not know that the area is not right at front desk. As for her thinking it came from Mickey as I wrote in a previous post, why not let her think it came from Mickey? At christmas I am not going to tell her I spent an obscene amount of money and there is no santa. Actually, she and I went on a cruise a few months ago, and I had the stateroom decorated. I wasn't sure if All Star Movies would decorate the room, so I figured if I made a basket,it would make her trip even more memorable. I wouldn't care if she thought it came from me or Mickey just as long as she has a smile on her face. Thanks for letting me know I can mail it down there, I will just do that.

Sorry if you thought I was saying you shouldn't let her think it was from The Mouse...I think that's a great idea :) Maybe even put his name as the name on the return address label and cover the box with stickers :)

I took it the wrong way. I apologize. Too bad that the gift shop won't deliver, that would have been great. I will just mail it ahead of time.

Gifts of a Lifetime will decorate the room, but it is after you check in. You can contqact Jane for more information or go to the website at www.giftsofalifetime.com.

Will it be just the two of you? If not, perhaps someone can take your DD on a trip to the gift shop or to see the pool while you settle in and you could plant the surprise yourself. If you choose your items carefully you could buy ahead at home and pack them in your suitcase. Then you can assemble your gift on arrival. This would cost much less and you could be sure to have some of your childs favorite things included.

It is just my daughter and myself going on a first official mommy and daughter trip to disneyworld.:D I think I will give her the basket the morning of the trip before we leave for the airport. Then one night I will have her in Neverland Club and I will decorate room with party supplies.
