I was trying to make a ressie (via Dreams Unlimited for 1/11/03) for a room at All Stars and they denied me, saying that every WDW resort was filled as it was Marathon Weekend.

Are sold out nights really happening these days with reduced travel since 9/11/01? Or is room availability as seen by travel agents' computers different from actual vacancies?

Just curious.

Well, I just tried checking through WDW website but could not get through, but I checked expedia.com and they have rooms available at All Star Movies. I would call CRO at 407-W-Disney to make your reservation.

For marathon weekend -- could be....
I don't know for certain, but I think I have read others go through Expedia and think rooms are available, but in the final steps find out there aren't any. But it's worth a try.
Good luck!

i found a site this afternoon that was very helpful...
ratesandavailabilty.com

you enter the city, pick budget, moderate, luxury, ect, the dates you will be there and viola, you get hotel listings.

i was trying for feb (200+ choices-some repeats) and it did list which hotels were sold out. very cool, some prices were cheaper than expedia, travelocity. i haven't tried priceline, i'm a chicken!

hope this helps!

Yup, I had the same problem back in early November trying to book a room over that weekend. I wanted three nights starting on January 8th (Thursday). But when I called CRO, no moderates or values were available. That Saturday night Jan 11th was the "bad" night - the only resorts available were the upper deluxes (Poly, Yatch and Beach), which I could not afford. :( The CM really tried to push these resorts on me even when I kept saying I was only looking at values or mods.

BUT .... funny thing is, when the Winter Thaw rates came out in late November, I checked the Disney website, and I found if I wanted four nights starting on Wednesday Jan 7th, then all of a sudden All-Star Music, POR, and POFQ were available at a discount! :) :) :) So I got POR. So apparently, if you stay longer, sometimes there are rooms available. This probably does not help you since you seem to only want one night and it's so close, but I was "forced" to add a day to my vacation! :teeth:

After we return from our Disney trip for NYE, we'll be leaving again on Jan 10. The room was quite difficult to get and the rate is twice what I paid when we were there for Christmas.

I've experienced this through both Expedia and Travelocity. With both services I've gotten past the step where I put in the credit card information. When I get to the last step of confirming the reservation, the site eventually returns a message that no rooms are available for the dates I want. It's odd that it wouldn't just tell me that at the outset. Now I haven't specifically tried marathon weekend dates, but just because Expedia SAYS that it's available, that doesn't mean that it really is.

I just tried the Disney website and it is up and running. The Beach Club only had a waterview room available. I guess the rooms are going to be limited to what you will be able to get during this time!! Enjoy!!:)

Though I don't know whether All-Stars is actually full, it is typical for All-Stars (and Port Orleans) to be heavily booked for special events like the Marathon (Jan), Pop Warner (Dec), and various cheerleader events (Dec through April).

Dreams Unlimited Travel books all of their reservations directly with Disney. So, whatever inventory Disney shows is what Dreams Unlimited Travel can find. As for Expedia, I have found the same thing. When checking availability, many things show up. But, when you try to confirm, it sometimes comes up unavailable.

Inventory changes all the time (literally every minute), so keep checking back. You never know what will open up. Good luck! :)

I stand corrected about AllStar Movies being available, looks like it's just Deluxes.
